Any race where the AI cheats so blatantly it isn't funny.(ftfy)
I can play the Flatout games no problem, but i'm up to Redrock Bluffs with 2 stars go to to unlock the next three zones, and the rubberband AI on Legend...well, whoever coded the AI should be LYNCHED.

Well, have fun with that. The AI on Legend in Redrock Bluffs makes the final tournament in Flatout 2 look like Hello Kitty Adventure Island when it comes to difficulty.

Suuuuure, when you're using the same mechanism as the AI.

The Dustgrinder, sure, that bike is bat♥♥♥♥-goes like stink, it's like the Bullet GT(from Flatout 2/UC) of the bike class.
Stuntman, add the PCSX2 shortcut, rename it, profit.

Goes like stink is basically another way of saying it's fast as hell. Handles pretty good too-real easy to throw the rear out around corners.

Dust Grinder is a nice bike but it's far from the fastest vehicle on the game, and not actually the fastest offroad bike either. I think it's main strength is in it's climbing ability - yes it can outpace any other bike on a steep hill. But put it on flatland and it's smaller but elder brother the Valkyrie is actually a little bit faster. And Valkyrie is a bit more nimble and less twitchy handling to boot.

And in terms of vehicles overall, Dustgrinder is really outpaced by some of the others. The Sidewinder muscle car and the Steelfang ATV, for example, can both hit 132mph on tarmac. If you take momentum out of the equation then the Burstrider SUV is a faster climber than any other machine, including the Grinder, and the Knightmare is the best (not fastest, but most effective) climber in the game - that will keep going up near vertical cliffs where other contenders fell off long ago. And one of the best vehicles you can get to maintain a high speed on virtually any surface is the Deathtrap monster truck...it only does about 108mph, but it'll do that 108 no matter whether it's on dirt, sand, snow or grass, and if you keep momentum up it'll eat steep hills too. Only real weakness is dense forests.

As to the AI - yes, they are rubberband to the extreme. Some races on this game are not a test of the player's skill, but rather an excercise in waiting for the AI to have a bad race. This can happen regardless of car/bike choice, so Tubers, you must just have had a really good run during your playtime to have no issues. I had something similar myself when I first played through the game, the AI were rarely a problem for me then...now on my third runthrough I'm experiencing much more rubberband action than I ever did before.

But the point of all this is that those bad AI runs do happen. The fact that we had little trouble when we first played through proves that the AI don't use their nitrus every time - occasionally they will mess up, and if you're on the ball you can pounce at that moment to take the win. Just keep trying Monaco, you will eventually find a time when the computer messes up. And if you fall behind right at the start, don't give up straight away - sometimes if they go fast to begin with, they then slow right down at the end and you can find ourself out in front quite by accident.

i know its not the best one it comes to speed but its the best anything to race with in almost any race. i dont worry about the AI at all because i know they wont be able to catch up with me but if they do they dont get far with out me catching up to them. dose any one know how to get the Damocle into freeride? iv'e seen it befor in freeride [not the AI controlled one]

the AI likes to crash into rocks laying in the middle of a big field alot. when i played it the first time on the xbax 359 i almost came to throwing the controller on a race where i dident get to use the dust grinder

Damocles in freeroam comes from the FUEL Refueled mod by Vetron. Stick that into a search engine and you'll find the download right away.

That's a fun car to drive in freeroam :D Cruises along at the same speed as Sidewinder going flat out, and it tops out around 215mph. Surprisingly good offroad too...even if you don't keep up the momentum it'll still do 60-70 on grass. Doesn't react to bumps well though so you have to be on your toes controlling it, and it's terrible at climbing any kind of hill that isn't tarmac or riverbed (don't ask why it should be able to climb hills like a boss when you're driving in a river, but for some reason it does...has loads of grip when half submerged).
