This mod is not available for the Linux. Why?
Please, let play Linux users, who also spent their money to buy red orchestra.

I don't know much about linux verison of Steam client, but why not running it with wine? Works perfecly fine for me.

Red Orchestra run native very well. This is mod for RO. Just a mod.

I know, only thing I am saying, is that by installing windows steam build through wine you will be able to play DH. And the FPS drop is not that big either.

Well, as Darkest Hour is basically just an ut2004 style mod, you can launch DH just fine right now with the current RO Linux client by using the "-mod=DarkestHour" switch in the "set custom launch options" field inside steam.

Of course you need to install DH though other sources, either through steam + wine or copy it over from a windows install.

It will fire DH up normally (minus its splash screen) and you can perfectly play offline or LAN matches, HOWEVER, i wasn't able to join any online servers, yet, something i guess is related by DH's missing steamworks integration for Steam for Linux:

Looks like this is something which can be and will be solved by TWI, so my best guess would be to head over to the officially tripwireinteractive forums and explain a demand ;)

I had a look at my two installs of RO1 (one on windows, 1 on linux) and ran a diff on both directories. results here:

Only in /Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/red orchestra/: blank.txt
Only in /Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/red orchestra/: Cache

Thos are the only differences between the two. 'blank.txt' is literally nothing; the Cache is just downloaded content from DH from games.

The Windows install of DH has the 'validate cache' fix run on it, but these are the only two different items, with the exception of the screenshots folder...so the difference is somewhere else...

+1

If we bought a Linux game, we can't play mods on Linux?
Very unfair.

It's actually a problem in Windows too, but because DH is packaged as a seperate steam item you can still play the game, however you need to temporarily break RO1's server browser to do so. Tripwire are aware of this; whether they fix it or not, who knows....

the game runs fine under wine, thats true ...but having RO Ostfront running nativly under linux, why do i have to keep wine just to play a mod based on Red Orchestra Ostfront itself. that's ridiculous!!! ... so where do we have to go to cry out for a linux port of this great mod?

wow, did you have a bad day? Or just an awful life until now? In both cases I hope it get's better.

Even worse, I bought Red Orchestra and this mod keeps trying to FORCE itself upon me against my will, even tho I never asked for it to be installed. Every time I log into Steam it starts trying to download the entire 5.7 gig of this mod even tho Steam itself tells me this mod is not available for my platform.

If you dislike Linux so much, then you probably ought to get off the Internet, throw away your smartphone, tablet, anything you have with Android on it, and likely these days your television as well, because these things all quite often run on a variant of Linux. Linux is in FAR more common on devices than you are apparently aware of (and has been for ages longer than you think.)

It's available now!!!! Check your steam lists gang!

Edit: wait... it's not working yet. Doesn't appear to be launching
