GRID

GRID

Is this worth $3.74, and how does it compare to Grid 2?
Any thoughts/opinions on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

grid 1 is stuck beween sim and arcade..but, thats mainly because thre is no way to tune and set up a car. stuck with their stock settings. def. worth buying
I'd say it's worth it. If you get it, do yourself a favor and turn all driving assists off.
The only thing I don't like is the inability to adjust various vehicle settings, like in GT5, but they're different games entirely.
IMHO its easily worth 3.00 but certainly not 3.74 LOL!
Any racing game near the top echelon is worth at least $10. Your question has been addressed before, but it boils down to what kind of game you like. G2 has good looking graphics, but its between-races hype is overblown. It has great tracks, but the car handling sucks.

In my opinion, for me, GRID is the best of the Grid Games. Great graphics and persistent and accumulative damage, excellent arcade handling. The gameplay is simple and efficient. No tuning or upgrading. Great tracks, good monetization system, great AI team mate feature. If you buy it, be sure to spend some time tuning the Advanced Settings. The default settings are terrible. At $3.74 you would be crazy not to give it a try. I bought it in 2008 and never uninstalled it. It is still the racing game I play the most, and I have quite a few. Over time I have bought three installation discs, just so I don't have to worry about wearing one out.

You might not like it at all, but how can you lose?

I strongly dislike the presentation in this game. The UI, loading screens and sound effects make me want to tear my eyes out.

I like the sound, for me UI is one of the best i ever seen in arcade games and game loads fast even on my Acer Ferrari ONE netbook with tk-42 2x1,6Ghz with 1mb l2 cache, external gpu ati 3870 512 ggdr3, 4gb ddr2 ram and slow Toshiba 5400rpm hdd with 8mb cache.
Definitely, yes. I would say though that if you are like me and only plan on playing the game with a keyboard and no wheel or whatever then be prepared for a rough learning curve. The default controls are NOT optimized for arrow/WASD keys. Makes sense though, keyboard keys operate on boolean values (on/off and no in between) whereas a wheel or analog stick can be pushed ever so slightly in the given direction.

I've played about 10 hours and am just starting to be able to race consistently without spinning out or smashing into a wall. Maybe i'm just bad at racing games :D

Where are you getting this game for $4 though? I think I got it during the most recent sale for about 10$
