Controller enabled update needed
This game already has controller support in the options but it doesn't work well. Now that steam released the big picture mode I wish more games like this one would update and make itself fully controller enabled.

Yes because playing an FPS with a controller is good.
No but it's comfortable and a nice option to have. Being a PC gamer, what type of game is good to play with a controller... racing and platformers and thats about it. I just like having the option to use my mouse and keyboard when I want to kick ass and a controller when I just want to sit back and play casually.
Well me being someone who used to console game, I know for a fact people can do amazing with a controller. Personally I think I do just as well with a controller as with a mouse and keyboard and not to boast but I'm next to never on the bottom of the scoreboard for any game I play. Plus I have several friends who are way better with the controller. They say their aim will never be as good as it is with the mouse but they make up for it with being able to maneuver better and mash buttons faster than keys.

Also, I guess I shouldn't say casual but when I use my mouse and keyboard I'm leaned foward more and I get into the game more. However after a long day of work or just an all around ♥♥♥♥♥♥ day, it's nice to be able to just have a comfortable controller in hand where I can sit back and relax and not give 110% but still do well and blow some zed's head off.

Another point I'd like to make is I would never use a controller in a game like TF2 but that game has the option to use a controller...

It's just nice to have the option to play however you see fit.
You know there is such a thing as a wireless keyboard and mouse? Secondly doing "amazing" with a controller doesn't mean squat. This isn't Halo or Call of Duty. You can't aim as fast or as accurate with a controller.

They make up for it because they can maneuver better? Sure they do. And yes mashing buttons faster sure helps a lot! I wish I could hit my keyboard faster. Maybe I should get a controller aswell!.

This
I've met plenty of people who said they're better with the controller, and 99 times out of 100 they're always worse than a comparably skilled player on a mouse+keyboard in games like this. As for being top of the scoreboard, that's not really that important or even meaningful in a game like KF. Your perk and role on the team is often a larger factor in regards to your position on the "scoreboard" than anything else, not to mention how long each player has even been in the round.
Haha I don't know why I tried, I forgot how biased and hot headed the PC community can be. I guess since steam has added this Big Picture mode, I just have to wait patiently for more games to become controller compatible. If that happens I imagine you all will be playing with teams of people who are using both mouse and keyboards or controllers and not be able to tell a difference.

Oh, and what good would a wireless keyboard/mouse be? I can move my wired stuff far enough back to be able to lean back, It's just not as comfortable as it is with a controller and I personally don't do as well. Another thing, have any of you personally played with a controller and then a keyboard/mouse? How do you know you don't do as well if you haven't tried. If you have, then I'll take your criticism and I guess I should admit I lost this argument, if you haven't, then you don't have much room to talk and I don't know why your posting on this forum.

One more thing, unless your a Medic or a Support Specialist welding a door, I'd say the scoreboard on this game shows how much your contributing to your team.

2x360s, 3xPS3s, 3x gaming PCs, 1300+ games and i still prefer the keyboard and mouse. id say you already lost the argument when you typed in "controller enable update needed" in a game thats strictly on pc and where 99.9% people are using m+k. as for the other .01%, its a marginal error for weirdos that dont.

Granted. That's what happens when your community is plagued by foul-mouthed 12 year olds. Wait, that's the console community. The PC community draws from ignorant jerks of ALL ages.

I've been playing console games since the Atari 2600, and have owned most of the consoles since then. I'm extremely comfortable with joystick/thumbstick controllers, and love what they do for the right games and genres (platformers, fighters, and scrolling shooters in particular). Remember that the FPS was born on the PC, and originally designed to take advantage of the PC's native input devices. Still, could someone conceivably play an FPS with a controller and achieve the same aiming speed and precision as a keyboard/mouse user? Sure, though that skill will require MUCH more time and effort to develop for the controller user because the demands on fine muscle control are so much higher.

But you asked for experience, not theory.
First or Third Person Shooter games I specifically remember playing with a controller, then later with a mouse/keyboard:
Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, MDK, Halo, Quake 3, Resident Evil 4, BioShock, Fallout 3, Dead Island. There are more, but the point's been established. In none of these could I, a life-long controller user, aim as well with the controller as I could with a mouse/keyboard. Accordingly, all software difficulty settings being equal, I found each of these games less difficult with the mouse/keyboard.

To be fair, fighting games are outright painful to play with a mouse/keyboard combination, while flight sims become strangely unrealistic. A joystick is just better. And there are all kinds of other games ill-suited to the PC's native inputs. All I hope is that you can concede that, similarly, console controllers aren't always ideal, too.

The scoreboard shows kills. "Contribution" in Killing Floor entails much more. Classes like Firebug, Commando, and Support SHOULD have more kills because they are specifically geared for taking out mobs. Sharpshooters, on the other hand, while weak against mobs, are the fastest and most efficient at killing scrakes and fleshpounds. And for those playing with a Lv.6 perk, "contribution" should involve helping teammates level by killing only what they can't handle. The best player on the team is the one that most helps the others develop and play their best.

Yeah but he explained it all, did it better than you haha. I don't really care anymore it's impossible to change a pc players mind. However I guess it is better to deal with you guys than it is 12 year olds on xbox live. All I was trying to say is I realize I'm better with a mouse/keyboard I just prefer the controller sometimes. Not always, but it is a nice option to have. It's an option this game already has, it just doesn't work too well. Plus when I use the controller I don't suck so badly it effects the whole team.

Nobody EVER changes their mind in Internet arguments, PC players included. ; )

Re-reading this, I see that I mistakenly imagined you to have said "a controller can beat a keyboard and mouse in an FPS," which you did not. So in this Internet argument I'M the loser for spending so much time on such a long-winded response to an initial premise* that I absolutely agree with.

Still, it's fun to engage in some good-natured trolling by quoting my first post YET AGAIN!

*Big Picture increases value of controller support
Consoles has this "Aim assist" that helps you aim so if they put controller support they have to do it with the aim assist function or people with controllers will be a holdback for the team due to the fact that you cant aim so well ... if you get in the forums of the game you can see how to enable your gamepad to work properly but I wouldnt reccomned it stick to kb+m or you will have to play on easy ...

I actually hate Aim assist and prefer to use the controller without it. Aim assist just ends up screwing me up. Any game that has the option to turn aim assist off is just greatness. Aim assist is just a joke in my opinion and with it I would probably need to play on easy without it I could probably play on a harder difficulty. Also there are a few, very few, pc games that have controller support and turn aim assist off completely and for me that's just magical.
PC gamers are so "biased" about this because they're right. Using a controller in an FPS is like climbing stairs wearing skis. Sure, if you spend your life climbing stairs with skis, you might find it more comfortable and that climbing stairs wearing shoes is confusing.

Now, imagine that someone tried to convince you that skis are just fine for climbing stairs and that there is no reason to not want a person wearing skis on your team in a stair-climbing competition. Now imagine that a bunch of people keep insisting on that wearing skis is just as good, if not better, for climbing stairs and you'll see where this hostility comes from.

Sure, skis are great if you want to, say, cross flat, snowy terrain. But they are not good for climbing stairs and should not be used for it.
