Black screen of death on startup.
When I try to start Killing Floor. I get the startup screen for what seems an inordinately long time and then the screen goes black and locks up and I have to power cycle the pc to get control back.

I cannot Alt-Tab into windowed mode when its starts. I have one monitor. I have defragged my hard drive. If I verify the integrity of the cache files I get the message "1 file failed to validate and will be reacquired." It does so and same result repeatedly. I have uninstalled Killing Floor and reinstalled. KillingFloor.log is empty. System Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 8GB, GeForce GTX 460 with latest drivers. Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8300 @ 2.50GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz.

No other game is effected. No response from Tripwire support. This is very annoying to say the least, any suggestions?

Oh yeah, I have played this game forever without any problems. 764 hours before yesterday.

Fixes for black screen in the gudie. First thing I woud do is update your video driver, then turn off anti-aliasing on your video card, delete Defense Alliance (if you installed it), delete Killing Floor SDK (if its installed), delete the Killing Floor system folder, then verify your game cache. If that exact sequence doesn't work, try the other fixes in the guide.

What eventually worked was deleting the directory instead of just the files. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Directory?

Delete the entire Killing Floor system folder, like it says right above that post. So instead of deletign just the ini file, you delete the folder. He called it a directory.
