GTA IV Windows 8.1 issue

ello guys, have any of you had issues running gta iv on windows 8.1? I've had 8.1 RTM installed since mid september and the game had been running fine until today. Today, microsoft released a large release day patch for windows 8.1 which has broken the game for me. The weird thing is that I currently am able to play the game when I hit Play (offline) in the social club launcher but the game doesn't work when I click Play(the normal one with MP) When I click the regular Play button, the GTA window will open and the screen will go black and just stay there. This issue has appeared to me since I installed today's large 200something megabyte windows patch. I've reinstalled windows (I have an 8.1 installation iso) and had an interesting experience. Right after that fresh windows 8.1 installation, I installed steam and downloaded GTA IV and gfwl marketplace *since the one included in the gtaiv installer is useless* as well as nvidia's 327 driver. i Installed the game and it worked again.....wooooooot. I was playing mp again! :D Then i downloaded today's windows update patches and it broke the game again. Again, I am able to start the game in play(offline) mode, without MP, but when I start it in Play(with MP) the screen goes black without sound or anything. Just a black, dead screen. I won't reinstall the game anymore since i'm sure i'm near my 15 installs counter for gfwl...fml.... but if any of you have any ideas on how to fix this issue please tell me...i will be eternally grateful.

my setup is
Phenom II 960T @4ghz, GTX 660 Ti, 8GB memory and windows 8.1 RTM

oh and I'm 100000000000000000000% certain it's not a games for windows live issue so let's rule that out.

I just bought the GTA complete pack, it never launches :( I'm working on Windows 8.1 too

Yeah the only way to play is to play it offline. MP will not launch. I'm sure if it didn't have its 4 drm schemes (SecuROM, Steam, GFWL and social club) we would be having a lot less issues with this trash console port.
