After GFWL shuts down...
Does anyone know yet what Rockstar's plans are for the future after GFWL shuts down? I would hope that they release one last update that removes it from the game, and/or allow people like me who bought the retail version to activate the product key on Steam. Converting the achievements to support Steamworks would be nice, too, but I'm sure that would just be wishful thinking.

I'd love to know the answer to this, too! :\

It keeps me from buying! Plus, I already have it on xbox! xD

Yep, this kinda bugs me too. I would advise every one to stay away from games that use gfwl where the publisher hasn't announced to patch it out (like they did for bioshock 2 or batman). Worst case scenario would be that we as legitimate customers can't play the games we purchased any longer, just becuase of these stupid, broken drm measures.

I know, and reading the threads here it seems I'm also eff'd because I'm running win 8!

Nice one MS! GFWL and win 8! ><

Actually, maybe it's Rock Star's problem. LA Noire also doesn't play nice with win 8; at least it starts, though! xD

The ironic part, is that Heavy Handed DRM will require "piracy" actions to paly games that you legitimately own.

I've run windows 8 for about a year and have had literaly 0 problems related to windows 8, over 200 Games, 180 of them being Steam games. the only one I have issues with are games like Dark Souls that requires EVERYONE to use 3rd party fixes.

lol, and I think this is the only game I know that comes with 4 drm systems on top of each other!

Securom (if I'm not mistaken), GFWL, Social Club, and Steam! They are all essentially DRM and you have this comitragic situation where you need three logins to play one game! D:

One dispairs! xD

Rockstar haven't said anything about this yet.

I can only hope that GTA IV and GTA: EFLC will be patched to use Steamworks.

GFWL is ♥♥♥♥, the client doesn't even install normally on win8 (extremelly weird being both microsoft products) wich is a huge barrier for some people without the neccesary skill to workaround it
but... aside from that, the only impact of the GFWL shutdown in GTA4 is the MP, and gta4mp isn't good and it's already dead anyway... so I bet that rockstar doesn't care

Oh, it's so sad! T^T Honestly, it's a huge loss if you can't play with other people any longer.

Was gta racing (sans guns) ever a available as a mode for the pc version? I played the heck out of gta racing on xbox. Loved it!
