Is the STEAM GTA 4 a poor port like the retail pc version?
Hi everyone,

I got a retail version of GTA 4 and remember that the performance was really poor despite having a great PC that had specs well above reccomended requirements.

I did alot of reading and found out that the PC version of GTA 4 was a very bad port.

I was wondering:

1. If the STEAM version suffers the same low performance issues

2. If so - are there really any proven ways to fix it?

There's no such things as a steam and a retail version. There is only one version of the game, that comes with different patches. The main reason people downgrade to the patch, is that it has better performance with the "very high shadows" than the patch does. But the shadows look much better on very high with, although they draw in as you walk along and are very demanding on the GPU.

What CPU and GPU are you using?
