GTA1-2 , Steam epic fail
Steam tries to take my money with cheap shots, and they succeed.
I saw that the pack of gta 1-2-3-4 was on sale, and i was like WOW that would be some awsome fun.

But no, took me four minutes to realise that i have wasted my money since gta1-2 is not eaven launchable.

You should not have to contact support or check forums when you purchase a product, i feel so cheated

gta 1 and gta 2s price is N/A. so you got them for free, therefore you paid nothing for them. they are just added for players who dont mind and want to play them. its amazing a company throws in something in for free for nostalgia addicts and ppl act all entitled.

simply, learn to research what you are buying/think you are buying.

Dont mind and want to play them?????I think thats his point he cant play them. The fact that the original GTA1 and 2 are in the bundle is why I even bought it to begin with.

Same here. The game launcher works, but the whole thing crashes to desktop when I try to enter the game itself. Disappointing.

to me it works 1 and 2 that is sad ITS THE BEST GAME EVER but call up steam and see if they can help and if not get them to take game back bu look at the things the games need at the page before you buy! thats a tip

Here ya go: GTA 1 + 2 are Free by Rockstar Games himself: http://www.rockstargames.com/classics/

First of all, both games work just fine for me on Windows XP SP3. If you're trying to run them on something like Windows 8 64-bit, blame yourself, no-one promised they would run there.
The next thing that these games are free, and have been like that for a long time, so complaining about them is just ridiculous.

thankyou Darkcruzer for the rockstar link.

Queendom both games are free on rockstar's page yeah but if you wanna get them from steam they are on sale for $12 atm or $40 reg Price.

lol missread the store page the package is $12. the games not runnint seems to be just a GTA thing in general because i still can't launch GTA IV
mitcho2017 1 apr., 2013 @ 3:56pm
actually, GTA 1 and 2 are free on rockstar's website.
mitcho2017 1 apr., 2013 @ 3:56pm
and you have to follow specific instructions in order to launch this dinosaur.

You need to download the GTAFixer.exe from the Internet and run it each time before starting the game. I had the same issue on both Windows 7 and 8 (all 64 Bit) and it's working. Thou I guess that Steam could/should have test the games on the current OS and provide the fix along the package.
Another tip, if your screen is blinking just after starting GTA 1 press F11 and change the resolution of the game to something higher.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

It worked fine straight out of the box for me. (Win 7, 64-bit) Sound is fine, graphics are fine, everything worked. Didn't have to download anything else to make it work.

Really, you feel CHEATED? When the game's page says VERY clearly in the requirements you need DOS/Windows 95/Windows 98, you feel CHEATED because YOU didn't read the requirements? Wow, talk about feeling entitled to everything.

Yes you are a genius because of course steam works on DOS. Obviously this promotion is to people which use Windows 7 or 8. It is very disappointing.
