Try setting gta-sa.exe process affinity to only one CPU - SA DirectInput can go nuts on multicore CPUs.

shift and tab when mouse freeses
You need the dinput8.dll file in the steam folder.

use search function i have solved it already.
go in your gta san andreas directory and then right click on gta-sa.exe, use compatability mode with XP service pack 2, and use run as administrator.

push alt+tab, then open task manager(ctrl+alt+delete), find gta-sa.exe process, right-click it and set the affinity from all cores to only your first core. Works like a charm.
PS You have to repeat this everytime you start game ;/

When mine freezes I just hit Esc and then again, then it should work

This worked for Vice City and it seems to be a common problem. Go to the game's directory in the program files > steam > Steam apps > Common > GTA SA then go to the application and set it to be compatable with Windows 98 / ME

I had the same problems. This helped me a lot :D

if you want to solve this problem forever, do the following:

google search: dinput8.dll
download the file. Then go to:
Computer - OS - Program files (x86) - Steamapps - common - GTA san andreas. You put the file there and from now on it will work!
