This is the first GTA game I actually ever played, though it's my second favorite in the series. Second only from the length of gameplay though does it fall behind San Andreas, excluding that it has the best campaign of any GTA I've ever played. I remember when it came out that my desktop could barely run it maxed and now my laptop maxes it out with an Intel HD 3000. I decided to mod it up to modern expectations and after many google searches and overhauls I settled on Vice Cry as a base for expansion. Vice Cry tripled the view distance, replaced the meshes for the cars with the xbox versions (higher detail), applied a wide screen and resolution fix, and many other little things. It doesn't replace the Ginput system with the Xinput system (for 360 and PS3 controllers) but there were many guides to replacing it in the community guides that I found in a few seconds. If you can't get your mods running just use the old no-cd patch, name it gta-vc.exe, and Steam will run it fine allowing CLEO and dependent mods to run. NOTE Vice City modders prefer the 1.0 no-cd exe for compatibility reasons but I chose to use the 1.1 exe, no particular reasons, so either works if you have picky mods or crashing. ♥♥♥♥ cheats, get VC Dream and forget about them.
