My thumbs down is for this steam version being unplayable because of random crashes, otherwise this is one of the best games ever made, if not the single best. Despite being unplayable because of crashing, I gave a review below of my experience of this game from the Playstation 2 days. I don't recommend buying this on steam because you will probably have problems launching it and probably have crashes in-game. The game wouldn't launch so I messed around with DEP. That didn't work. So I tried using the DEP on the testapp.exe file and it didn't work. I then set the testapp.exe to run in windows xp service pack 3 mode and as administrator and the game finally worked. However after playing for about an hour, the game gave me the same crash error that it did when I was trying to launch it before which is a "unhandled exception" error. I set it to Windows 7 compatibility mode and it will now run again but probably not for long until it gives me that crash error. So basically I will not fk around with this anymore. That and you need to fix your Y sensitivity outside of the game because it is way too high in the game. I had to enable X and Y sensitivity sliders in my Razer Synapse software and set the Y sensitivity all the way down to 300 while leaving the X at 1300. Because of awful crash trouble, I can't recommend anyone to buy this. What I do recommend is buy a PS2 and this game and have a blast. Or if you have a PS2 and this game already but still want to play it on PC, you can legally use a PS2 emulator and a rom of this game and it should be actually playable unlike this steam version.
What's to say? It is simply one of the best games ever made, and one of the most important. It helped change how games were made and made people rethink what a video game really is. And of course the most awesome part, the soundtrack. One of the best ever. Imo it's pretty much the only GTA game to have a good soundtrack. The soundtracks to 3 and 4 are garbage, and San Andreas only has a few good tunes, and I haven't played 5 yet. I remember being absolutely blown away by this game when it was released all those years ago and I had it for my Playstation 2. I been a gamer since the Atari and I have seen and played it all, and very few games have ever blown me away like this one did. Some of the most fun I have ever had was with this game. And a 19 yr old girl. Nothing but good memories. Of course games now are far better quality, but for its time, this game was abolutely phenomenal, and it still holds up well and is still fun to play. It showcases some of the best 80's music that there is and captures 80's Miami perfectly. Great weapons, great missions (mostly) a lot of fun killing everyone, driving fast, driving boats and helicopters, and the map layout is great. Vice City is a awesome place to be.
