Xinput support can't be THAT hard, can it Rockstar? PC not good enough?
In this day and age, I should be able to play my game that I bought THIS YEAR with a controller I bought THREE YEARS AGO. This Xbox 360 controller is in perfect working condition (with a slightly annoying click coming from my A button whenever I press it nowadays, but I digress), all that's missing is Xinput support! Lacking support for this is why the GTA trilogy won't cooperate fully with an Xbox 360 controller-- pure laziness on Rockstar's part. What might it take, one to two days of programming? Can't be too difficult for experienced developers like Rockstar Games!

Anybody else kinda miffed that Rockstar won't get off their lazy butts and make a patch for this game (as well as VC and SA)? I've already sent a surprisingly kindly worded message to them through "Mouthoff" on their website but I doubt it'll do any good. If they expect their old games to keep raking in money, they've got to at least keep them up to date! I love these people-- they make great games! But their lack of care toward PC gamers is getting just plain insulting now (even with their newer games, gta PC ports are later than console counterparts, user interfaces are poorly ported over from console-- you can't ignore they give PC the cold shoulder, odd seeing as PC's where they started)

Apologies for going off on a tangent; Rockstar's lack of support for PC gaming just bothers me admittedly more than it probably should. I just hate to see one of my favorite developers give PC the short straw time after time for more than ten years with its biggest franchise.

Does this bother anyone else, even the slightest? If it does, send Rockstar another mouthoff message about it-- I've gotten responses for other subjects, so they DO pay attention to them. Maybe if they see enough people peeved about it they might actually do something.

And indeed, for R* implementing this could take 2-5 days. For me it took more time, as y'know, doing such stuff without game's source code is a bit more tricky ;)

This game is from 11 years ago. How the hell can you expect it to have native Xbox 360 controller support?

Rockstar continues to sell their older games without updating them to work on newer systems. A simple download page on their website and an update on steam is really all that is needed to keep the games up to date. For the people who programmed the game, adding more controller support would take less than a week.

This is 2013, and they haven't made any effort to optimize their old games for newer computers-- they should, seeing as they still sell them. Continued support means continuing sales-- even if it's not selling as much, people will still buy it if their system will run it, and that means money in Rockstar's wallet.

I expect more from a developer that makes remarkably amazing games, controller support and an occasional patch to optimize for newer operating systems-- eventually gta3 trilogy games will stop running on the latest and greatest operating systems-- that's all I ask.

Refer to Silent's post. It takes little to no effort to install.
