there are not many servers left, but the game is really a nice experience. some like it, some dont. what i like most is the feeling you get in the middle of the battle:
in other games you run around, maybe meet an opponent, there is a shoot out and one is left contiuing running around.
in red orchestra you can experience really intense battles. as a defender for example you often spend time in your hideout (a trench or in a bush for example) with heavy fire everywhere around you. artillery shells, gun fire tanks and explosions everywhere...
due to its controls the game heavily promotes camping (which of course is a legit tatic as a defender).
on the other side, as an attacker you really need a good commander and teamwork to be able to break through the before mentioned defense and to get to the cap zone. crawling into the battle, making yourself as flat as possible happens quite often and is really intense.
unlike comparable shooters (like arma maybe?) you mostly never have to run around for hours without any action.
red orchestra combines action with somwhat realistic gameplay at its best.
you get a ton of maps, weapons, tanks and vehicles and a very nice mod called darkest hour with even more maps, vehicles, new gameplay elements and even mortars. as in red orchestra you dont have many servers but i can tell you, the servers available are a blast.

i for myself am a public player but still have a lot of fun playing with the more professional players. if you plan to play in a more "professional" way, you cant go wrong with ro since most players left are that type of players. i guess they will, like me, stay for forever^^

all in all, you can get a nice and very intense 50 player or even 70 player game (in darkest hour) with ro, but not all day long. in the evening (here in germany) i always get a big, full game.

I already purchased it, so I'm stuck :) But as long as there are people playing I'll be playing as well

As IGN put it. Battlefield 2 and CoD puts you in a war movie. RO puts you in war itself. I like it as people don't fly around in planes, helicopters, drive around real fast in vehicles running you over, bullets actually kill people in one shot, not a whole magazine. It is so very satisfying when you make those kills with a trusty bolt action rifle.

It does seem fun so far. Still have to play darkest hour and mare and the others, but it seems it will be satisfying
