Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45

Statistiche:
Why should I buy this?
I constantly hear how RO1 is the better game in the series, and I'd like to know why? Also, how easy is it to find a game, and how steep is the learning curve?

Well for me RO2 is disappointment. Many bugs, less weapons and vehicles. RO2 is mostly based on infantly battle, which is fine but I do miss tank battles and massive battle from RO1. From what I felt from RO2, RO2 is easier to play comparing to RO1.
Graphics are of course better in RO2. They are not that bad in RO1 though, on highest settings and with .ini file resolution modification, it looks beautiful as well. However, I prefer the fisrt one (I bought both). I like the gameplay better overall. It is more difficult and that's what makes it better imo. I get more satisfaction when killing someone. Like lonewolf said, the bugs in RO2 and the bad optimization make the game crash and unplayable with its jumping fps (but maybe you won't experience that problem). But since not everyone has the same taste, I suggest to download a demo if possible, if not, watch some HD videos of gameplay to give you an idea. When it is on sale, it is 5$, you cannot go wrong with that.

yeah I've heard how better is RO1 and I would have played but I can not because I can not buy from Steam.
This could someone shed to change RO1(now costs 3,50eur.) for Chivalry Medieval Warfare(now costs 17,90eur.) it would be very nice because I would like to play.
Well if you like ArmA, and you're looking for an experience with more tactical decisions around the bigger maps of RO 1 then it's for you.
If you want to support to developer's RO2 which has smaller functionality but seems to be shaped better for quicker matches, it might be your thing.
if you play ro1 you will learn what "war is hell" means :-D
people still play this? I mean this game looks awesome
I play regularly. I have about 450 hours. Sure it is not very populated, but there are always at least 1 or 2 servers with people on. During the day, there are a couple of full servers and each thursday and friday there are events. It is a small but cool community, enough to keep the game alive. New players come from time to time. I don't know if they stay or not because the game is hard to learn at first.
Nice, glad to hear that. I'm totally new on this game, and I dont care to get my ass kicked haha I mean, this game just fits perfect to me: My fav historical time, the infamous Eastern Front! I join up late...
It is never to late :). I will add you to my RO buddy list so we can play sometimes.
its way to easy to make kills compared to ro1
Ostfront has,

-more vehicles "around 16", HoS only has two tanks
-weapons which are authentic
-larger maps without clustered objectives like HoS
-more and better made maps
-HUD isn't clustered with information and you can turn off whatever you want
-movements and weapon behaviour feels more realistic and it's harder to aim
-Ostfront unique gamemode is the Classic one in HoS "role based with few automatic weapons" which is barely played because people either favor Casual or Realism modes

Moreover Ostfront has the Darkest Hour mod which doubles the number of vehicles, adds more realistic armor simulation, has British and American equipment as well as mortars, new gameplay mechanics and many great maps.

Unfortunately Ostfront isn't where the players are at and Tripwire recently released an update which broke Darkest Hour server browser.
