Single player? Worth buying if not for multiplayer?
I have a crappy net connection, and I tend to hate using Steam client for multiplayer since it clogs down my system.

I want to buy this game for the realistic gun reloading.

Is there a single player campaign? Is it possible to enjoy the game without multiplayer?

I have Red Orchestra 2 and I play with bots. I bet that Red Orchestra has an option to play with bots as the newer game. And I saw YouTube videos where people play the game with bots.

There is no standard single player campaign and while there are bots they are somewhat stupid.

They are stupid in RO2 as well but, we can't change them. Only the devs can.

RO2 bots are sort of stupid
RO1 bots will get in your tank and drive donuts and all walk around the cap point before dieing for reasons
Cheers for the answers! Off my wishlist then.

While I'm here, can anyone recommend an FPS which has extremely realistic reloading? What interested me in RO was the fact that if you click reload, you lose the unspent bullets in your gun.

Most FPS treat bullets like a magical hopper - they just top up your magazine or clip from the general supply. Which is silly. If the character removes a clip with 5 unused bullets, and throws it away, those 5 bullets should be gone forever!

Basically, I really want to play an FPS which forces you to think strategically about when to reload, so as not to waste ammo.

Squad, Insurgency, day of Infamy have that mechanic.

You fire half a mag.. put it back at your pouch after reloading and if you use it again you only have half a mag left :)
Nice. Cheers!

Don't waste your time here, there is no single player. Only practice mode with bots, aka a copy of multiplayer version except you play with idiot bots who will ruin your tank play.

Stupid but deadly. Bot abilities can be increased.
Set up a server with bots. That way you will have somone(a bot) to play with until a real person can join.
