Deffensive cannon fire keeps destroying my buildings.

It seems inevitable that cannons firing from forts and fortresses will frequently explode on or near my own buildings. Once they do this there is a high chance the building will catch fire and quickly become destroyed.

How do I put an end to this?

Don't build buildings in front of the shooting buildings?

It dosn't matter where the buildings are made at. I could have a fort half-way across the map and it still set my town on fire if enemies near it. :(
