Advice on beating "The Purist?" (Challenge 10)
Greetings all. I have beaten all challenges except for The Purist. Does anyone here have any adivce on beating it? All I can seem to do is hope I get extremely lucky and find Epic Fetus or something.

Same boat here as well. Only thing I can advise is hope that you manage to get some good items on the first three floors or so, and reset if not.

i only have one advice but it will take LOTS AND LOTS OF TIME so just keep finding the secret room until you find dr. fetus or enough coins to buy the candle ( if possible )

Lucky run and a little of experience. Pill can turn your run to win in many cases. Items from devil's room, items from secret and very secret rooms. Compass, Treasure map, Arcades. Exept Dr. Fetus. Mom's knife helps a lot. Just use your resourses wisely and you will beat it.

It'll take you a long time if you're holding out for a Dr. Fetus. 85 hours in and I've seen one drop and it was in the Chest floor.

Just completed Challenge 10 and did ??? at the same time for kicks. Spent a heart on Mom's Knife which sorted me out for damage, White Pony from Conquest solved my evasion and three Pretty Fly's for defese. Otherwise, no special drops, six red hearts by the end. The only advise I can give is the same advise that applies to the rest of the them, don't get hurt, take unknown pills early game, always go for a Sacrifice Room if you can afford it, grind slot machines for Pretty Fly, Shell Games for Skatole and Fortune Telling Machine for Soul Hearts. Always use Blood Donation Machines if you have the hearts lying around, never just hope for a Blood Bag. Always spend money on Beggars before other gambling, great way to get health for very little money.

If you're really stuck and haven't completed the rest of the game, go do the normal game and unlock whatever drops you can. Something like Maggy's Guardian Angel is a huge leg up in terms of defense.

The tip is clear : if you want to beat it just spend a lot of your time/life on the game but first ask you if it is worth it and are you spending a good time or is it just a bad addiction ?

I've unlocked most everything there is to unlock, save for Samson's items and one of ???'s items. I still haven't been able to beat The Purist.

@Shoot the Doctor FIRST! I already do just about everything you suggested, except for using Sacrifice Rooms. They never seem to be worth it for me. Maybe I just have bad luck.

@mojo7771 I wouldn't quite say that TBoI is an addiction for me, but it is close, I suppose. I simply ADORE the artwork and gameplay.

I like it too but it becames very hardcore and god knows ( sure as developpers) that players always want to beat their game and here it's a waste of time cause IRL this brings you nothing.
At this point i think this game is bad for health.

Of course it's a question of luck but, at least for me, they pay off more than not. The possibility of angel/devil items in exchange for one heart is tempting enough. Also, if you're flying then you'll only get hurt on the way out.

Oh, but obvious after the Womb it's not a good gamble. Two hearts at that stage of the game is too much.

That's not the point , i did not talk about casual games.
This game has no need of brain and is base on luck , too much luck.
You can use some technics but sometimes there are just too much going on the screen and some rooms are more difficult than bosses :)
Just imagine if you were able to choose your first two objects , won't you beat that game easier ?
Of course yes and that's where luck has too much weight in the balance IMO , we should'nt spend 150 h on this kind of game repetiting over over expecting good stuff , can you accept this point of view ?

Well i can type a word and do other things , you know.
I really don't care about beating games and achievements.
What do i care is fun times , good mechanics and this game is a great idea and well design but what i say is that do we need to spend a lots of hours on a luck mechanic cause it's the base of this game.
My answer is no and yours is " you are a creep , you can't beat the game nananana you are butthurt " .
Sorry i'm not used to schoolyard anymore since long ago.

I think you misunderstand; by "Sacrifice Room," I mean that room where you have to walk over the spikes a couple of times to get random drops. I think you mean "Curse Room" by the room with the spikes in the doorway and one-two red chests. I almost always go for the latter, it's the former that never seem to pay off for me.

Not 100% but too much and that's the whole point here cause if you were able to choose items or skip bad items like mother's bra and other "kind of" the game would me much easier and less longer. Is this hard to understand ?
And that's why i stopped playing it even though i had good times with it.
