Is this game very hard or am I just bad?
I am finding it very difficult, the furthest I have gotten was to the third floor. Does anyone has any tips?

I beat the whole game after only ~100 hours. I only probably make it through to the last couple bosses (generally die on Isaac if my items aren't great) about 10% of the time .. or rarely I will die before Mom if my items REALLY suck.

It is hard! You can make bad choices with the devils curses and bad items. You need a lot of luck. Maybe that is the point why I play it so often.

Personally, without using a guide, I feel the best way to get better at it is to simply keep on playing, learn more about what each item does and find items that you find the most helpful.

i watched loads of gamplay on youtube over 100+ hours of it on youtube and i beat the game on my second try

I had the same issue. I only beat it once and just left it because i couldnt got the mom a second time, then my brother came to visit and got me hooked again and since then i have beatten the game 16 more times.
The thing i found that hekped me the most is being familiar with the items before you pick them up, and the more times you finish the game the more you unlock and it can become easier

The more you play, the easier it becomes to learn how to dodge! dodging is super important. finding items is unfortunately luck, but try searching for secret rooms with bombs (usually within a square of the shop, or treasure room). I've got 130+ hours in, and it only got easier when I started beating the game and started unlocking items to help me. Try some of the challenges, and try to unlock Maggie (starts with 4 hearts) or Cain (has Lucky Foot to start, very useful) The wiki is a very awesome resource.

It's not just you. The game is quite hard. However, that's Roguelikes for you. You're expected to die over and over, with the average run lasting only about 15-20 minutes. But, with each attempt you learn things. The most important thing to learn is how to deal with each room layout:

Yes, the maps are randomnly generated, but the individual rooms are not. You can learn nearly everything else you might want or need to know from the Wiki. But how to deal with each room layout comes from experience.

For about the first 50 hours, you should just concentrate on getting as far as you can. Nearly every decent run will unlock something. As you're doing that, you'll learn the room layouts. Probably the toughest thing is learning how to beat the later bosses, since you'll rarely make it that far at first.

Now, if you want some specific advice, here's mine: Beat the "Dark was the Night" Challege (assuming you're playing Wrath of the Lamb) ASAP. This is a pain in the ♥♥♥, but it unlocks The Candle, my pick for best item in the entire game. It's commonly found in shops and it just slaughters the late game rooms and bosses.

I found the game hard when I first got it. I recommend watching streams and videos on it, and some tutorials too :)

3 advicess.

1. Read a wiki and learn about the good items (and trinkers etc)

2. Lear the Patrons

3. keep on playing (it is fun... you will learn to do it rigth :D)

Yeah, it's pretty hard when you're just starting off. The easiest thing you could do to aid in your sucess would to be watching a few videos of the game on Youtube. It will allow you to see various room layouts and enemies, and what items you should avoid or look out for. Also, do a couple of runs that are purely for learning. Play the game with the Binding of Isaac Wiki minimized, and when you come across an item in game, look up the item on the wiki so you can easily learn what it does. Once you get a feel for the majority of the items–and pills, tarot cards etc–learn to dodge. Dodging is super ♥♥♥♥ing important.
