Clarification on Save Data
So I just want to confirm that the save data is now only contained in the serial.txt? Old threads say both serial.txt and so.sol but some more recent ones suggest only serial.txt. I can't even find the so.sol file - it just doesn't exist for me hence why I'm asking.

Still no answer? Hopefully, it was just because I posted this during unusual hours. :/

The following is for Windows. Maybe on Mac only serial.txt exists and there are no problems.
Both files carry state, some of it overlaps. It looks like serial.txt contains the game progress, while so.sol is intended to carry the settings (resolution, quality etc) but for some reason it has also the kill/death counters, unlocked endings and other game stuff (which takes priority over serial.txt for some reason!).
So, if you're transferring save from one computer to another and BoI is installed on both, make sure to either bring both files (easy way) or if you bring only serial.txt, DELETE the so.sol file. Otherwise all kinds of weird save glitches may occur.

Hmm, I guess that I should've added that I'm using Windows 7 - and I can still confirm that so.sol does not exist for me. All my stats update perfectly. How recent is your information? I already knew all of what you said from prior searching; thanks anyway, however.

Oh yeah, I'm on XP on both machines, one with standalone and one with steam version, and both generate the so.sol file. Weird stuff.

So.Sol exist it's just hard to find you cant just type so.sol to find it,there the solution

1) Windows key + R
2) Copy this in the run box: %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\
3) If there are several folders then search manually for one containing a localhost folder, or write "localhost" or "so.sol" into the search bar in to top left corner.
4)Copy so.sol to a safe place

enjoy ;) also some people may have problem with ccleaner deleting this file and you lost 4 of the hardest secret for beating chest (Samson's Lock, Eve's Birds Foot, the Left Hand, and Cain's Eye)

I saw that already when I looked for answers in previous threads, I guess I should've clarified; I'm well aware of appdata since if you've played Minecraft before like I have, you'd be quite familiar with it. Thanks for responding anyway; mine still doesn't seemingly exist.
