I Finally Defeated The Mom For The First Time!
I bought The Binding Of Isaac on October 30th, 2012 (without the DLC because a lot of players said that you should play the pre-DLC version for a good while first before you buy the DLC). I then bought the DLC on December 20th, 2012 (I backed up the pre-DLC version first being that it's convenient to have both versions and to be able to play whichever one you want at any given time. Although if you have the current DLC version and you want to get the pre-DLC version back so that you can choose between both, you can look here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/113200/discussions/0/828925849138118898/ or here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/113200/discussions/0/828925849328088768/). After 68 deaths and 18 total hours of playing so far, I finally defeated The Mom with the character Magdaiene. I was playing the pre-DLC version (which is considered by many players to be easier than the DLC version).

The first time I got to The Mom was while playing the DLC version with Magdaiene. Sadly I had very little health and died the first time. The second time I got to The Mom was today with the pre-DLC version. Luckily this time, I had a good amount of health. I had previously looked at The Binding Of Isaac Wiki: http://bindingofisaac.wikia.com/wiki/The_Binding_of_Isaac_Wiki. And at YouTube videos of The Mom battle to see what I was in for. Probably the ironic thing is that the way that The Mom died in our battle was that she killed herself by stomping on her eye. The Epilogue ending and the credits were nice.

Now I am aware that the very first time that you defeat The Mom is not the real ending. It unlocks more floors and new bosses to experience. So even though there is more to see and do, I am so glad to have FINALLY defeated The Mom's first form and see the first ending. Remember how good you felt when you first defeated The Mom's first form? I still regard The Binding Of Isaac as a very tough game, although a likable one at least

well, i kill mom in 2011 and that was not pretty hard.
i dont know why people think this is hard.
Now you have to beat over 5 more bosses many times, thats a great replay value.

You got a long way to go after the mom, you'll reach the point where those are just the levels to gather items, not even a challenge.

Congrats man! I don't remember the first time I beat mom but it was probably like the first time I beat the chest. I never thought I'd be able to do it again since I had such a good combination of items. I agree Isaac is a tough game even though I am much better at it now. The learning curve is quite steep compared to other games nowadays. Good luck on your future runs and finding all the other endings to the game!

Because different people are better than others at different things. That is kinda the way life works bud.

Good job! I suggest to stick to the DLC version because it's more challenging even on the early floors which is a good preparation for what comes after. On sunday I got the platinum god achievement which felt pretty good. I started playing isaac (with dlc) around the same time as you and sinked 200+ hours :P (lost my saves a couple of times though)
