Nope. IMO it's because edmund probably doesn't know how to draw a face to it. But it's better so, to give anonimity.

Yes it is true. And there is reason behind this:
The angel could be interpreted as God. In many religions, (includig crisianity) it is offensive to give God a face, as they beleive that his teachings and messsages are far more important than his physical appearance, and most beleive God isn't a physical entity anyway, so giving him personal features would be against there beleifs. As Edmund didn't want any serious anti-religoius claims on his hands (especially with the already current religously charged themes there in the first place) he decided giving him no facial features would be the best idea.
In case anyone was wondering, this was coming from an atheist with intermediate knowledge of crisianity and silar religions.
