When do you realise you can't win?

What has to happen before you admit you're not going to beat a run? For me it's normally if I get to floor 3 without any tear/damage modifiers

i cant say that, sometimes i was with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ items but all can change in only 1 room, thats the funny thing of isaac (for me)

When I manage to get myself stuck in a room or rooms, and am unable to physically escape (eg picked up Dead Cat in Curse room, went to the secret room adjacent, and couldn't escape due to how respawning works)

A run isn't lost until I freaking die.

This, pretty much if I havent gotten anything to help my damage output by the time you get to the womb, i can tell it's pretty much over...I'll still try though...but I know I'm going to die, just a matter of when. It usually in the cathedral I draw my last breath.

If I encounter a boss that isn't Monstro, Widow, Fistula or Pin and I have no useful things that won't screw me over if I use them (Kamikaze). My most hated boss (excluding big bosses, Satan, Mom, Seoul) would have to be Gurdy, especially without damage+ things, or tear+ things.

I usually have that sinking feeling during the depths. It doesn't help that it turns out to be necropolis half the time. I'm still fairly new, so I have to be pretty OP to beat satan or Issac.

No damage/tears up, 0 to 1 hp up, lemon mishap, no special tear modifier, etc. just before i fight mom. I could beat her, but there's not much point as i won't get much farther after that.

Yeah, every run I have, I always keep playing until I die; I never restart. Sometimes I feel like if you push through an unfavorable situation, the game will be kind to you in return.

Yesterday, I did FIVE runs on the chest level, and all were successful. Some of them started off kind of bad/slow, but picked up later in the game.
