Removing WotL
So I bought the WotL DLC at launch, but unfortunately it has made me hate the game. Is there any way for me to just disable the DLC or remove it from the game's files?

Nope.

Damn shame. I enjoy the randomness and difficulty that came with the vanilla game, but god damn WotL just took it way to far. I used to be able to beat the game with even weak builds, but now I find beating it to be extremely difficult since the majority of items added to WotL are extremely underpowered, desaturating the number good drops. Alternatively, I find I also sometimes have runs that are extremely over powered, resulting in the run becoming boring by the depths.

Also I hate the mask of infamy.

Tactics, tactics, and once again tactics. That frustration was with me at first for the same reason. But now DLC doesn't seem that difficult. But of course it's quite hardcore game, yeahhhh! ;)

As a test I ran 10 runs. A total of 2 damage ups (including things like mom's knife and brimstone) were made availible to me through gold rooms and boss drops. I found the poop 4 times throughout those runs. I also encountered the "narrow walkway with knights" room 14 times.

PreDLC my drops were not nearly this bad, but I guess I am not playing "tactically" enough.

There is a launcher named BOIL which is downloadable on these forums, in which you can disable and enable WoTL whenever you desire. try searching "binding of isaac launcher" on the search bar.

Don`t hate the game - It`s hard , but not that hard. You just don`t seem to be very good at it as it seems. Keep practicing.

I love how you assume I'm bad at the game. I am actually very good at the game. My problem is the lack of decent items. In the vanilla game, you could usually win, even on a mediocre run. In WotL, your runs are either extremely overpowered or extermely underpowered. Edmund added a bunch of new items, yes, but he nerfed the majority of powerful items that were in the vanilla game through things like Curse of Darkness. Since I always get Curse of Darkness at least 3 times throughout runs, there is no reason for me to get the map or the compass since they'll be useless in the end. My complaint is that the good drops are nowhere near as common as bad drops due to item saturation. I can often beat mom's heart, but I find I have a lot of trouble in the levels after because I have no offense, heart containers (or soul hearts), and tears. Instead I have kamkazie and ♥♥♥♥♥ of babylon. Maybe I would not be as critical of WotL if I started the game with it, but after putting 200 hours in the vanilla game it is painfully obvious that Edmund threw any idea of balence out the window with WotL.

Maybe if Edmund instituted a passive way of influencing drops based on items you have already recieved, excluding starting items, by applying a "power value" to each item (for example ♥♥♥♥♥ of babylon and poop would have a low value while mom's knife yould have a high value). If you keep finding items with low power values, the game will be more likely to spawn high power value items as the game progresses. Alternatively, if you find Mom's knife and Mom's contact in the first 2 gold rooms, you won't be as likely to find over powered items later on in the game. Of course, this would require a bit of planning and, as I said before, Edmund threw out the idea of balence in WotL.

I'll look into that. Thanks.
