Achievement problem
For some bizarre reason, I can't unlock achievements in-game, and on my games page on my profile, It lists the game like it doesn't have achievements AT ALL. I've deleted my save 3 times or so trying to fix it, launched a few hundred times. What gives?

I had that same exact problem, but dont worry about it, its REALLY easy to fix:

-go to your steam library
-right click on the binding of isaac
-choose properties
-click on the LOCAL FILES tab
-then click VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE
-give a bit to finish loading......
-after its done, it'll start to download/fix any problems relating to the achievements
-then,next time you open the game, every achievement you "supposedly" got will suddenly be unlocked all at once.

hope that helps :P

Didn't work, all files validated and nothing has changed

It seems to be a sync issue, because steam never syncs it post exiting the game. What to do about that? Keeps my save but never updates my progress via steam.

this is gonna be a bit of a dumb question but, did you download the wrath of the lamb DLC? cause its abit of a stretch of what the dlc does with the achievements....

-when bought, it'll ACTUALLY enable them after buying it
or
-it'll glitch everyonce in awhile while trying to sync em up like you said....

oh well, atleast you get to play your game right? rather than not having it run? :l

That's a well-known issue, you can either fix it
by downloading an edited file (not recommended, might cause a ban)
or by deleting the FlashAchievements file in the game directory
Steam\steamapps\common\the binding of isaac
After that, tell Steam to verify the GCFs (as That Darn Mexican said), it will re-download the file.
After you launch the game, the achievements will pop up.
You have to do this every time you unlock something, though.
It is unknown if the devs will fix it, since they're working on the remake.

Yeah, I got the Wotl as a gift. I'll give the FlashAchieve erasure method a try in a bit.

This is very simple. Simply don't start the game from the shortcut on your desktop, but rather from the Steam Library. I always get achievements from Binding of Isaac when I do it that way. All the achievements that you should've unlocked previously will unlock then.

Don't reinstall, verify cache, and all that stuff. It's nonsense.

Uhm, no, I always launch it via the library and I always have to do what I posted.

Always works for me.

Just to clarify a few things, I'm on Windows, and I start all my games from the library tab. Nothing unlocks.

I have a slightly different problem:

Any ideas?

The devs messed up the script for that. When you beat it with Eve, you get the one for Judas and so on.
Dunno if they'll fix that, since they're working on the remake...

I was having the same problem as D.Harry. After playing the game yesterday noon for more than an hour in more than 3 sessions, no achievements did unlock (it showed I had 0/84). Today after reading this I was going to try it, I only did a verify cache just in case (everything was OK) and started the game, and suddenly, all my 13 achievements from yesterday unlocked at the same time...

I don't think your method really works or do something, it's possibly more a Sync problem than anything else, as my game files were OK before the verification and I didn't delete the file FlashAchievements.

A guy named 1nvisable~ created an alternative FlashAchievements.exe file for The Binding Of Isaac designed to help with the Steam achievements sometimes not unlocking issue for the game. Many players have said that it works for them. I use it and it works for me too. I have the original FlashAchievements.exe file that comes with the game backed up just in case. You can learn more and download the alternative file here: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2216833
