Doing a fan remake, need your opinion!
Hey everyone, I'm doing a complete fan remake of The Binding of Isaac (+DLC), and I need to know how you feel about a few things: https://amos.me/games/paper-isaac/poll

i have a few suggestions.
make sure that the player doesn't COLLIDE with the enemies.
and make sure you don't accidently create a monster with random crazy/glitchy attack patterns. also, for the love of god, do something about those greed heads ("keepers" i think they're called), they need to be toned down, monster balance/allowence would be great.

@grizbi2: That would depart too much from the original I think :/ What you mention might be considered hard by beginners but many seasoned players (watch streams on Twitch, e.g. Cobalt/Wolv21) use it to their advantage.

I suggest making it moddable to allow for possibly a level editor or maybe new items and such. A co-op or deathmatch mode with other players would be nice also

well when your getting squeezed by 4 masks and cant move and are unable to hit anything because you dont have a laser-type weapon, let me know.
this is coming from a platinum god @_@
come'on, we both know whats REALLY good. (^-^)

hmm.. well how about if there were like.. a melee weapon? like instead of tears/lasers? (mom's knife is more like a boomerang than a melee weapon ya know?)

also, maybe a variant of spikey floor that retracts its spikes at set intervals? that could make for some interesting room layouts.

Hmm those are interesting options.

I think once the original game is recreated, the same engine could be declined in several.. versions, with original content from groups of people who are after a certain type of gameplay.

We'll have to see how it plays out, the good news is that it's all open-source, the bad news is that you can't customize everything without touching code (e.g. you could replace part of the graphics.. and the code could be adjusted to take some values from text files.. also the layouts are all text files, but for example enemy behaviour is written in ooc.)

So I guess we'll have to wait to know :) I'm looking forward to at least finishing all the enemies from the original game.

What's interesting about this is that a similar problem has happen to me in the actual game. When running from danger, sometimes i'd get stuck in a certain spot along the right side of the room. Not sure why, but it always causes me to take a hit. Maybe I just collide with the wall while trying to move down too quickly. Idk, maybe it's just random misfortune on my part.

honestly, that would take away from the game, just being able to pass through everything
