Going along with what you've suggested, clearing out Pearls Before Swine in singleplayer with no deaths would be a neat challenge. Maybe another challenge like "Finish every level with the locksmith without dying", something like that.
Or perhaps clearing specific levels without items. That'd be a tough one, though not impossible.
Discover all secret passages (although rVII's guide makes the job easy now)
For example, my suggestion would be aggro X number of guards at one time. This would add a unique challenge almost opposite to the goal of the game.
-Slip through a handprint door that's being held open by an NPC (doesn't matter if they're alive, dead, asleep, or agro for any reason)
Achievements awarded for learning tricks of the game will hopefully generate more users who have increased interest in advancing beyond the Disco where a large number of them give up.
I agree with Crosbot though, they should be clever and somewhat difficult to attain.
Maybe:
Modern Magician - Have 6 viruses active at once; easiest with the Hacker of course, but still not forcing it on the players.
Sweet Dreams - Knock out 3 enemies in 5 seconds; easiest with the Cleaner, but doable with the Tranquilizer.
Loose Belt - Expend 5 disguises in one level; Gent, but any level with disguises would do.
I do like some of these suggestions, keep it up guys!
Killing Machine - Kill atleast 3 or more gendarme with one shot of a gun.
Playgirl - [Redhead Only Achievement] Quickly charm an NPC, then charm another NPC within 5 seconds.
Manslaughter - Kill 2 of your friends in one shot in a PvP match.
Friendly Fire - Asplode a friend of yours in a Non-PvP match.
(Will add more suggestions.)
OMG please, yes, don't make achievements based on "do this 100 times", they suck badly and are not skill based.
About other suggestions:
Hold the Elevator, Modern Magician and Sweet Dreams sounds funny
My suggestion
No..no, Mr not here: Answer a telephone
I like Hold the Elevator.
Narrow Escape: Aggro three or more armed guards at once (not watchmen or dogs) and then successfully reset aggro on all of them without dying. (Using either creative footwork, an escape hatch, or clever use of a disguise item.)
Gentleman's Four: Clean out One Last Job without any violence occurring. (No shots fired, no NPCs shooting at you -- that is, re-enact Ocean's Eleven. Other levels that might be good candidates are Pearls Before Swine and Au Revoir.)
Why not play with all the combinations of players in Steam?
- Kill, clean, or knock out four or five guards who are on their way to turn a power generator back on.
- Wrench a piano.
- Trip a gun laser without being hit by the resulting bullets. (possibly a few times in a row)
- Help a friend lose heat by bumping an attacking guard, then successfully hide.
- Use an alarm as a diversion, to lure a guard away from something you want.
- Gain hostility from at least three guards so a friend can sneak in and steal everything they were guarding.
- Kill, clean, or knock out every dog on a floor, without doing anything to human NPCs.
- Let the guy, who is always busy typing, finally catch you.
I'm sure many of these wouldn't be worth figuring out how to implement in the current system.
But I really like the "Hold the Elevator" idea and the ideas of Dugrobach, Magician, Jeremy Avalon and ChevyNoel.
Some other ideas:
- Escape a level with less than 10%/25% hp while being under attack.
- Hold open a bush/ladder for a friend who is being chased.
