Lost data, Legacy Saves [Beta]
I just put up a build that will hopefully prevent data loss, or at least make your data recoverable.

In the previous beta builds, If steam cloud synchronization failed it would fall back to the legacy save system. I have to do SOMETHING like this to be able to support the people that bought the game from our Humble Store and don't want to use steam at all.

But the problem was that for some reason, steam cloud synchronization would fail (I'm still not sure why) and it would load a non-existent, or old, save file, and then it would end up uploading this to steam cloud, overwriting old progress.

If you upgrade to the beta from this point forward and suffer data loss, please post the details here.

On the options screen there's now an option to save to STEAM CLOUD or LEGACY. It will NOT save to both, hopefully preventing the data loss. You can switch between them, but for the moment they are not interchangeable. The only exception to this is that the game checks if you have NO steam cloud save, and if you don't, then it will load your progress from the legacy save file for the first time only (until your progress gets saved to steam cloud).

If people still experience data loss, please post here so I can track down whatever the issue is. Given that people seem to be losing only Pickpocket mission progress, it's entirely possible I've misinterpreted the reason for the data loss.

It hasn't been just the pickpocket levels. Initially it was, but then the locksmith levels also became lost if that helps. :)

I've lost progress towards certain levels, primarily Clean Out achievements.
Correction: Both Place du Palais and Casino De Monte Carlo relocked themselves with all of my progress in the Casino reset.

Which really sucks, because now I have to go back and clean out about 5 levels again to continue working towards finishing the second campaign.

As for what was lost it doesn't seem to be pattern-based, or at least none I can discern since I lost progress that was made using the Gentleman, Hacker, Redhead and Cleaner. (not just locksmith and pickpocket)

EDIT: Corrections.

I just logged into Steam to play Monaco today (I was playing two days ago). I noticed it was downloading a new version of Monaco. I also noticed that there was a new item in "Help and Options" called "Import Legacy Save". Perhaps stupidly, I selected it, thinking this would port my data to whatever the new system was.

All my progress on all missions just got erased.
