Your awesomest Monaco moments
In this thread we will politely discuss our splendid experiences in Monaco.
I'll start, shall I:
I recently bought the game, and tried the coop yesterday for the first time, 3 guys entered immediatly, and they all were so surprisingly friendly and nice and funny :D, so we a ton of levels, but what I really remember is how strategic it got at one point, I teamed with one fella and the two others went the other way, there were security lasers and stuff, he took the computer at one point of the room and I took the other computer, both hacked the security, then we proceeded sinlently till I had to accidently ruin it and step into an undisabled laser, within 3 seconds all hell broke loose and it was a ♥♥♥♥ing madhouse :D .

Share your experiences, friends.

My funniest moment was when I was playing with 2 russians on Quartier Diamand, we were terrible, they triggered every alarm on the level, but they kept laughing all the time, they spoke with very strong russian accents and it was funny. And they kept exploding every walls with C4 everywhere, and one of them was a mole and digged the whole level, so it was a mess.

When we were trying to get the last coins, we were surrounded by guards, they both panicked and put C4 around us to try to kill the guards but it killed us instead... while they were crying of laughter :D

When my whole team suicide because they think they need to cover me while I open a door.

Seriously? How did I end up with these people all at once? Even then, how did they even get to the end of the pickpocket's story?

The second best part of Monaco for me was the best plan I ever pulled off.

The team was trying to complete Au Revoir, and the redhead of the team tried to run out the front door; an idea that was quickly halted by the security doors and alarms. She died on the right side of the front left laser, the one that didn't move. The moving laser on the left passed over her again and again. A horrible place to die!

The pickpocket claimed he was going to save her. He died on the opposite side of the map, right in front of a policeman. Again, a horrible place to die.

I, the gentleman, had an idea. I had one bomb of C4, and that was all I could get as the mission was cleaned out. I placed it in the pool shower area near the wall, destroying the laser and providing easy access to an escape car. With the laser gone, I could reach the redhead without setting alarms off!

Two civilians, the clerk in the lobby and the piano player, saw me before I could finish the revive. They both ran off and called two guards: a random Gendarme and a policeman...

That policeman was also the guard in front of the dead pickpocket. When I finished the revive I ran out of the room before the guard arrived and got to the pickpocket. I had managed to get him up in time and I pretty much saved the entire team in one fell swoop!

The absolute best moment of Monaco, though, is when I finally got the number 1 place on the life of crime singleplayer leaderboard. It only took me 100 hours.

So far? Getting the play it again charlie achievement!

The three of us playing the piano, with the other guy shooting all the guards that were storming in!

The piano music just sold the hold thing!

Yep, pretty fun!

One of my favorite mistakes i saw was I dumped down some C4 on the locksmith's diamond heist mission to blow up some of the glass casings (not the safest way to successfully claim jewelry, but whatever works) and the cleaner came up and started breaking one of the jewelry cases, blatantly missing the explosives.

Cleaner: "Oops."

I was playing with two other people (I forget their names, which is a shame because they were both great team players and I wish I'd friended them) and we were trying to beat the Place du Palais mission. I was a Hacker, and the two other people were a Cleaner and Lookout.

The Cleaner, over voice chat, was constantly complaining about how terribly difficult the level was and that this was his umpteenth time trying it (as it was for me as well), and the other one had told me he'd beaten it before but never cleaned it out, which we finally managed to do this time. It was just funny because he was so jaded and, even when we beat the level, said something to the effect of "Wow, now I get to play the next punishing level a few million times" which was my thought exactly.

But it was epic, just because we'd been trying and trying and finally managed to beat it. I can't recall any specific moments clearly, but I'd died on the second floor in the upper right corner, behind the curtain and next to some jewels, and the Lookout snuck over into a potted plant and managed to barely avoid getting the attention of one of the guards sitting nearby, before coming over and healing me. It was great.

It was, just in general, a really friendly and fun match, something I've rarely experienced in any other online game. Stephen Totilo's review of the game on Kotaku talked about how the online community for Monaco, at least so far, is one that's very friendly, and I agree with that, and this match was just further proof of that.

It's moments like these that make me realize just how awesome this game is; many thanks to Pocketwatch Games. One of the few matches that I'll probably never forget, just because of how chill and low-key it was.

Sorry I made the levels too hard!
Rush Rage May 13, 2013 @ 2:57pm
They are not too hard, just too fun! ;)
Smokey Barrister May 13, 2013 @ 7:14pm
No no no, Andy! Yes, they're hard, but it's part of the fun. I think what the person playing as the Cleaner meant, and how I feel as well, is that they're very difficult but it doesn't necessarily make it any less fun, unlike some other games. This is actually my favorite game of the year, hands down. I thought it would be BioShock Infinite, and I thought it probably could be Watch Dogs, but now I've realized - no. It's Monaco. Thanks for helping make such an awesome game.

I remember teaming up with 3 other dudes trying to beat Pearls Before Swine 2nd floor. Being the Redhead, I charmed the guard and tried to carefully plant a C4 down the bottom left corner to blow up the safe. One of the dudes triggered the alarm and the whole team was surrounded by double locked doors. My charmed guard managed to make an escape route and 3 of us got to the bush nearby while the Locksmith completely missed the opened doors, picked at least 2 of the double locked ones while under gun fire from at least 2 other guards, ran away almost triggering the still active turrets into the bush across the room (he survived). Everyone broke out laughing over voice chat.

That and one other time when I was in another team and someone blew up the car just right before we escape.

... and also the most recently one where my friend was hiding on the stairs, I ran to her and accidentally placed the C4 right where she was and killed her, twice.

This literally is probably the only game that is actually fun, no matter how hard is it. I never find myself frustrated during levels, even if we fail miserably. It's not like those games where if you fail you just want to quit the game. It's one of those game that you are more like: "we failed, time to try again and change out strategy". I really love how this game endores creativity and gives you the freedom of mind. This is one of many things that make this game so damn brilliant. Don't you dare being sorry for that. YOU HEAR ME?!
