Gender Locked Classes Suck
Just add four additional avatar pictures, some small pixel manipulation to the 2D character models, and a masculine or feminine pronoun word substitution throughout the text and leave the choice up to the player.

or learn to live with it like gamers have for the past few decades and enjoy the game's aspects you should really be focused on enjoying

I appreciate your reply, but I'm ok with NOT living with it. I offered my critique for the developer and moved on. I'm sure my non-purchase of their product isn't going to bankrupt them, but they should know why I will not be buying it. That is how a business gets better.

i agree with B1GG1N on the gender locked class, it does sort of suck that you cant have like a female warrior or shadow walker and a male sorc but all in all its still a great game

ya it sucks but the game dont got it. most of there other games that ive seen have the option. some other games have this issue and i havent made it far enof in this one to know if theres a lore reason behind it or not. if you dont want the game thats your buisness but quite complaing over something so small.

I will also voice my opinion to the developer. I prefer being able to choose all aspects of my character. The more the better. However, I still will buy the game if it has a good story. If you can develop the character well enough during the game I will be satisfied. Being able to make my character allows me to more easily identify with the character as I have already given it a background, in my mind, as to why their stats are the way they are.

I'm with you on this one. I wanted to play a male spellcaster.

Same, playing the other gender kinda kills my immertion.

I agree there should be a choice with gender. I'm used to other Spiderweb games where you can also choose from different portraits and sprites - I do wish you could do that with this game.

I believe there is an intereview somewhere where the developer mentions that it was a case of time and money. You essentially have a few premade characters templates including class, gender, etc. I believe he mentioned there would be gender variation in the sequel as there have been more than a few people that mentioned this.

or the ability to add custom portraits, sprites and the image in the equipment/skills screen would be cool

I'd actually prefer for the time and effort to be spent on the storyline and game mechanics. I'm not a boy in real life, but then neither am I any sort of combat class slaying spiders in the forests in real life. I'm quite happy to let my imagination do some work for once while the developers spend limited resources elsewhere.

I guess I just don't understand why you'd deny yourself an enjoyable game over such a (to me) trivial issue. If such a feature is going to bring them more customers and therefore the cash and incentive to produce more games like this, though, I won't complain :)

Hah, good point. Although I was truly disappointed to see the lack of gender choice, as well. For some reason, Mr. Vogel likes to make his sorcerer characters female, while I strongly disagree with such a decision. But, as frustrated as I was, I still enjoyed the hell out of the game. And since there should be the choice of gender available in Avadon 2, I guess it's all good.

dont get me wrong daskhura, i love storylines in games more then anything,
in order of importance it goes - storyline, lore/backstory, gameplay

up to now best storylines i can think of has got tobe between suikoden 1 + 2(altho 2 is my fav), breath of fire 3, and the entire Baldurs Gate storyline (BG1, all the way to BG2:throne of bhaal)

best character backstories has gotta be Baldurs gate, Final fantasy 7 and mass effect (excluding the ending...)

best lore - gotta be skyrim, and baldurs gate... i dont know i just love reading all the random books you find around ^.^

as for the ""im not a boy in real life"" - not sure where that come from but that really shouldn't metter what sex you are or aren't if you enjoy a game and its story thats all that metters

<edit> oh and the Blackwell Series games... how could i forget that :O! the story in their series is top-notch

Why do people care about this utter non issue lately? It affects nothing. The characters are SO small in this game you'd barely even be able to tell anyway. It's like you're just looking for little stupid things to nit pick about. if THIS made you not buy the game you would have found some other tiny tiny 'flaw' otherwise and screamed for attention over it.
