I have key for this game. Should I bother using it?
First of all: This is not a "is this game good?" post. It's already plain to me -- and was, within the first 30 seconds of my researching it -- that this game on the whole is utter garbage, and every single person at monolith, zombie, and WB should be ashamed of their participation in this disgrace, which I, and any other discriminating gamer would never spend one cent on.
(And the really sad thing is: WB is probably saying to devs "Well, thanks for making us a ♥♥♥♥ game; you're fired!" and devs -- of whom I used to have at least a bit of respect for Monolith, but don't really, any more; zombie, OTOH: don't worry; I never had any respect for your products (zombie studios, indeed. a nice tribute to your ideal customers, there) -- is probably going "But you asked for a ♥♥♥♥ game! We went over the ♥♥♥♥ design together! You watched over our shoulders and breathed down our necks the whole way!" But OTOH that's their problem. You deal with the devil, you're going to get burned.)
And yeah, I've read about how "you don't have to rly buy the DLC" and "all it is is skins" and whatever other apologist bullcrap. These packs are $15 each! As such, there's no possible way you could spin this that I would not find scammy and offensive.
Anyway, before I get too caught up with all that and cause further distraction by telling these companies what I really think of them, let me get to my actual question...
I have the keys for the base game and smaug DLC from the WB bundle.
Two things interest me about this game: trading cards, and any possible single-player jollies to be had just fighting against the AI or whatever. I'm decently familiar with the LOTR lore and I could have some fun fighting around w/ the heroes etc. Using gandalf's force lightning and bilbo's grappling hook and all that other cool stuff that was totally in the books. But is there any point to it? i mean .. is there really a single-player game here, at all?
I guess I can answer my own question, since I am not giving the keys away; I will use them for trading cards before I do that.
But in the unlikely event anyone actually values them, if you want to offer some kind of trade, that might be viable. (This would be outside the normal steam trading system, of course, and you would "give first", of course.)
And also, I just could not this product intersect my life without offering some kind of criticism to the misguided organizations and individuals who created it. I have a duty to the art of videogame creation to not let ♥♥♥♥ like this slide. You all have that duty, in fact. Some of you carry it out better than others.
