Oh look...
This game is even more of a barren wasteland than it was 6 months ago. So much for those big talking devs and that stuck up ♥♥♥♥ of a mod (who hasn't even been online in 4 months) who promised this game would receive patches and support and yet not a single thing was ever fixed and the game has been completely abandoned (not like we expected anything else). They're still expecting people to spend ♥♥♥♥ing $20 on this game? What a pathetic attempt at a joke. I hope everyone who had a hand in this utter scam dies a slow, painful, cancer ridden death.

Agreed, pathetic. I still go on and hope to find matches with actual people, yeah doesn't take long usually before i close the game down. Just to much to complain about and its so sad that they have not yet made this free. Not like it was worth the money in the first place and they are not fixing anything anymore. Make it free and get the f*** out of dodge.

I agree... I have no idea how this game got into my library.. it seems every developer is after this MOBA fashion now..

I just feel bad for the people that got conned into spending money on this PC version.

I respect, your guys opinions because you're probably veteran moba players, but I like the game because it's simple and I'm just starting with these types of games. If you guys like you can hit me up for a game. I'm not a rage quitter either. If I lose the game, I don't mind because competition is good. My tag is Johnny.

That has nothing to do with our attitude towards this game. My biggest gripe is the business model associated with this game. If I pay for a game, then why the ♥♥♥♥ would I want a free-to-play model in game on top of that? Then you also run into problems with the controls, unit responsiveness, graphical optimizations, balance, etc. All of these problems account for the virtually non-existent playerbase which kills the game even more.

The absolute worst part about this entire situation is the fact that the devs completely abandoned the game within a couple months of the PC port's release. They made all kinds of promises to fix the game and provide content. Unfortunately, just like the God Mode devs, they wasted a potentially amazing game and now we'll never know what it could have become. Zombie studios doesn't even claim this game on it's website anymore. Hell, you can't even find it listed on their Wikipedia page. They act like they can just wash their hands of this mess and pretend like they never released this abomination unto the world. Wrong.

I hear you, thanks for explaining that. I recognize the potential in this game. This will end up probably being my entry game before I start Dota 2. Aside from lack of polish, it's suiting my needs right now, and I still think it's a good game. Even if it is primarily a bot game for me with an occasional drop in.

Too bad, they abandoned the game, because who doesn't love a good strategy game combined with The lord of the Rings.

If any of you guys are still interested in playing once in a while on this game. Send me an invite.

Johnny if you are serious about an entry to moba genre there are a number of free mobas that let you play against the ai. The game was a great game on console when it worked. On pc it never worked andwas a moneygrab.

I concur every statement of this post. DotA2 has bots in it, with much better AI than this game. DotA2 also has a very good tutorial. LoL has pretty good bots and a half-decent tutorial as well. Honestly, it's a waste of your time to even try to gain enry level knowledge from this game, simply because you'll get better, easier experience via a different MOBA. Unless you REALLY like LOTR to the point where you can ignore every glaring fault this game has, I'd suggest installing DotA2 ASAP since that's what you really want to play anyway.

Thanks Demon, I already downloaded Dota 2, I suppose I'll eventually start learning the game but for now Guardians isn't bad and keeping me entertained.

BTW, which game do you like better League of legends or Dota 2?

Honestly, I don't care much for either. I mostly play Dawngate and Heroes of the Storm. Between the two you asked about, though, I'd prefer to play Leage of Legends over DotA2.

I played this on PS3 from the day it was released and had the season pass and the rest of the guardians released after that as well. I loved the game on console, the bugs and lack of dedicated servers killed the game though. If only one of 10 people has even the slightest lag in their connection and can kick Every player (if they happened to be host, picked by eenie meenie miney mo I think) or any random number of them from a match in a game lacking a way to reconnect to the match that is not good for the longevity of a game even without the other issues.
the blend of the retail pricing along with some guardians being only available as paid dlc probably turned some potential players away from trying the game. The ones that did try it, experienced the constant lag and disconnections we all know, which not surprisingly wasn't fixed for the lazy cash grab PC port that lacked the elite battle gorunds even. If this game had some dedicated servers, and they had a smarter and more competitive price model like other mobas, it could have still been flourishing to this day. Unfortunately, it wasn't intended to last for the long haul especially the PC version. In spite of it's flaws though, I really loved the game on console and had some great times with it before it died. I had such high hopes for the game.

I too loved this game on my xbox 360, if only a good dev was at the helm, we would have had a good, long lasting game here. I believe this is another one of monolith's cash grabs such as gotham city imposters, :::sigh::: such potential, just in the wrong hands.
Johnny Jun 27 @ 8:56pm
Well guys, as mentioned previously, you can add me, if you feel like playing a game for old time's sake. It seems to be running pretty good for a 2 vs 2, I'm not sure about 5 vs 5 because like you say, the servers are deadsville. Something about this game, that once in a while, I enjoy.

ha ha, even with good connections on all players involved, some people seemed to crash coupled together in the same lobby. rarely though. we had to open ports in routers, dmz our consoles, or plug straight into modems with the ethernet cords. 5v5 was real great in customs on the consoles. i remember on ps3 though, sometimes the host owuld need to invite us one at a time, as we accepted they'd invite or have one of us invite another person into the lobby. cause if too manya ccepted at once, it would crash and kick us all. such sloppy net handling lol. I remember us having to do that to place people on teams to avoid crashing. I think the game couldn't handle if too many jumped into a 10 man party , or transitioned to hero picks at once. real sloppy work. bear in mind, monolith is making a new LOTR game , coming out the day dragon age 3 does i think. I forget the name of it, but I'd hold off on buying it for a week or 2 until you get player feedback. it's a single player I think, so they may do a better job on it.

It's called Shadow of Mordor and I'll be waiting to see how awful it turns out myself. Monolith has a terrible track record, so I'm not holding my breath for that game.
