Demo crashing on launch
I love hidden object games, so I thought I'd try the demo for this one. The "gears" loading animation stays for minutes, then a progress bar appears and then this fatal error:

I have Windows 7 64-bit.

Hello! This is the first time I'm seeing something like this, so let's try to figure it out.

Do you have enough free space in your drive?

Can you copy/past the entire error message?

Cheers

Thank you for your quick reply!

I tried verifying the demo files integrity in Steam, in case that's causing it... verification was successful for this and Hidden World.

Here's the error message (the same error is repeated til the end)

I also sometimes get an error message when manage to force exit.
It's the same but it says "cannot terminate thread" instead of "cannot resume thread"

I have 467 GB free on the drive where Steam and the game are installed.

Hmmm, thanks for posting that.

I am trying to find a solution by looking at other programs that have had this error. TCM 1+2 are 32-bit programs and they can only access up to 2 GB of your memory (although TCM 1 wont' usually access > 512 and TCM 2 around 1 GB).

Is there any chance you having too many memory-intensive programs running at the same time?

Other instances I've found mention a right-click and 'run as administrator'.. does that help at all?

Sadly no... I restarted my PC and tried running them before any other programs, and also as administrator, no change. =/

Anyway, thank you for following up!

No problems for me on Win7 Pro 32-bit, Win7 Pro 64-bit or on my new Win8 64-bit. I loved it so I bought the game and love it. Have replayed it...

Hello again, Bassem. Another player for The Clockwork Man : The Hidden world suggested the following:

"open the game properties on Steam Library and uncheck the "Enable Steam Community In-Game" Option."

Could you try that and tell me if it works for you too?

Jlconrod: Happy you liked our game, thank you !
Bassem Feb 23, 2013 @ 12:03am
I wish, but no change. Tried on both this and Hidden World. I'll try reinstalling tonight to see if it helps
