Black and White
Anyone else experiencing black visuals and white hair only? My guess is that it's a texture problem and have no idea how to fix it

Solved Alan Wake Black and White Graphics Glitch for Intel HD 4000 GPU
I was experiencing the black and white graphics rendering glitch and fixed it by installing the latest display drivers for the Intel HD 4000 GPU.

Driver version that works: version or (

I have Intel HD 3000, and before anyone says it, I HAVE seen people able to run it on 3000. Everyone always says "update your display drivers", but my problem is, I have the most up-to-date drivers. I had them before I installed this game, and I have them now (have double and triple-checked) yet I STILL have the black and white issue. Can anyone help???

It would be best to just get a cheap dedicated card like a GTX 650 Ti 2 GB. Updating to the newest Intel driver should of fixed it for you tho. Did you use autodetect? Even Remedy said updating the Intel driver fixes this issue. I don't know why you still have the problem.

como arreglo este problem :o ?

I've found the problem, and it looks like it's going to prevent me from playing this game. I can't update through Intel. My specific computer was built by Toshiba, and as such, requires my drivers be updated through their site. After ensuring that I have the latest updates through Toshiba, I still have this issue. I cannot update further, and will be unable to play because of this :(

I've never heard of such an issue. Do the drivers from Intel refuese to install at all?
Portality Aug 30, 2013 @ 5:11pm
Never got that far. I used the Intel autodetect for driver updates, and it gave me a message to the effect of "contact your computer manufacturer to get the correct driver updates."
Plaid Aug 30, 2013 @ 5:34pm
Oh, just download them manually from the Intel site and install them.
Portality Aug 30, 2013 @ 7:31pm
This is the exact message, after trying that. "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer manufacturer. Setup will exit."

Hmm, that figures.

Try this, from another forum (it's a couple years old but could give you a good direction):
If you want to use the stock Intel drivers from their website, you need the zip version.

Extract the zip somewhere, Location does not matter

Go into Device Manager, (type Device Manager in the windows search bar)

Click Display Adapters and Intel HD Graphics.

Go to the tab labeled "Drivers"

Click "Update Drivers" and "Browse my computer for drivers"

Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers"

Click the Have Disk Button,

Navigate to where your extracted drivers are and go into the directory labeled "Graphics"

Select the file named "igdlh.INF"

Click on the OK button and then click Next, the drivers should install

After that you need to reboot, and after rebooting your drivers should be updated.

If that doesn't work, make sure you did it right ;)
If it still doesn't work, try using Windows Update, and be sure to set it to check for everything, including drivers and such. That might work.

You sir, deserve a medal. I followed those instructions, and I can finally SEE this game (in colors that aren't black and white.) How can I repay you??
