How scary is it?
I want this game but I HATE scary games. SO if it scares or is too jumpy please say.

I have not had a good nights sleep since playing this back in the fall of 2012. Since then my my wife left and took the kids, soon losing the house as i defaulted on the mortgage repayments and my internets been cut off....... its a bargain though at £2.99.

It's tense and at moments scary. This game has very few jump scares and instead opts to leave you constantly uneasy. It's a psychological thriller, and it's a good one.

I'm normally not a fan of so-called scary movies or horror-themed games... but this one is different. I just had to keep playing...

I wouldn't say it is that scary. It is more of a psychological thriller, then a horror story.

There are a few jump scares (only about half a dozen). For example, when you enter a building to look for ammo an enemy will spawn behind you. The scary parts of the game are when you start to run very low on ammo and need to run through a forest knowing you are going to be attacked.

I liked this game and I don't really enjoy scary movies or games that much either. But I do love thrillers and that is what this is, not a horror.

Amen. Not scary at all, and the jump scares aren't scary; it always shows slow-motion video that it spawned, so they won't scare you. I only had a few Amnesia-moments, when I was out of ammo and had to run to the light with monster chasing me. Got a bit nervous, but that's it mostly :D

I do not not have the courage to play "scary" games and I consider this to be pretty scary to me. Running towards the lights for safety and the suspense is done quite gracefully which could be declared as such but for each his own.

I quit man. ♥♥♥♥ terrifies me. Its not that you get those jump with brown in your pants scary moments. The damn thing confuses you and terrifies you throughout. You see the jump moments coming and still they get you because you are so psyched out.

If you're scared by a video game you have bigger problems than the question of if you should get this or not.

But as previous poster said, this is more of a psychological "thriller / mystery" than a horror game. It's been one of my most favorite games of the past few years. Great writing, great environment, and overall great game. The only drawback for me was that the combat got somewhat repetitive, but the writing and story make that somewhat nitpicky.

i dont see what you mean by the 1st sentance xD if you had to have problems to be scared of a horrer, then the horror franchise / industry wouldnt simply exist,
to "scare" us they give us something that may not pose a threat , but something we connect to that isnt exactly human, bordrline human, meaning our brains dont really how to process it, whish makes us chilled or creeped out :P
this is how horrors work, this is why horror games and films exist ;)
i was certanly creeped out at times, and the jump scares are however the most freeky, most of the time you dont see, but you hear whats going on.

so, jump scared - definatly
pycological scares - yeah
but it or hasnt seemed to feature any monsters or creatures as of yet

*however after a while, the scare factors gone, it seems repetative :/
