This game is nothing like L4D, while it's basically a shooter the controls are different. You'll have to get used to the (3rd person) camera angle and dodging mechanics. This game has a really great story if you're into supernatural/mysterious stories. At least, I personally found the story to be much more interesting than what you see in most other games. The gameplay could have been better but I don't remember encountering any bugs. For this price, I think it's now at it's cheapest (on steam, humble bundle was ofc even cheaper but that was a 1time only) and definetely worth it. The game takes between 10-20 hours depending on how much you like to explore and find stuff which I won't spoil here. When you finish the story there are also a few DLC chapters (included by default) to add some extra explanation to the story.

I played through the new Tomb Raider not long ago, and all I could think about is how much more I enjoyed Alan Wake. Better story, and so much more exciting. Genuinely scary too at parts.

No, this is not worth $3. The game had a lot of potential but the story falls apart, the ending was incredibly disappointing, and the combat is poor at best. Forget the $3 cost, I wish I had never wasted the time I invested in finishing this game.

Alan wake is totally worth it buying. i got it on the xbox but decided to buy it again on the PC just because how amazing it is. Its true u need quite a good pc but even if u cant run it smoothly currently its the current discount is totally worth it and playing it later.

It's a solid action-FPS, not worth the full price but still enjoyable on multiplayer, I don't get your point.
