Episode 2 issues

The kidnapper won't break down the bits of wood after you first meet him.

He just stands there.

I've restarted the episode a few times and he won't progress any further, and he stops shooting after a while as well, so eventually I'll run out of items and die.

Any thoughts?

Well not really ive crossed the game 2wice but .... well all i could say is restart but seeing how you have already done that could be a installed data problem , verfiy the file integrity of your installation through steam to be sure. (TO DO THIS) Right Click alan wake in steam menu and chose properties , here click on the local files TAB and then choose verify file integrity.

Yeah, did all that. The Kidnapper did this once before on normal playthrough, he was fine for hard, but now won't comply in nightmare difficulty.

that's why it's named Nightmare :DDD sorry bro, that's a very strange problem. Except for reinstalling I have no idea...
