Questions as I play through
My first time through, I'm on to episode 2 and wondering if there is some checklist that shows which levels I have collected every coffee thermos and manuscript?

I have a feeling if I have 99/100 thermos, I'll have to run through the entire game again just to find it...

If I remember correctly, the manuscripts are already categorized by episode. But the game will not give any hints about what part of the episode a manuscript can be found in, and won't even tell you what EPISODE the missing thermoses or can pyramids are in. I know I played the game 3 or 4 times through before I found everything!

Yeah, but if you think it'll help you on a second (or third, or fourth...) playthrough, and you don't want to just cheat and look everything up, I have detailed information on when and where enemies are truly infinite respawn. It's probably not as often as you'd think. For some reason, the board won't let me post this as a new discussion. But I suppose this'll do; hope everyone sees it. It's based on my experimentation and not any official guide and therefore won't be perfect/100% complete, but it's the most info on the subject I've seen anywhere thus far.

Episode 1:
None! There are absolutely no areas in this episode in which enemies never stop coming. Even the road next to the gas station is not REALLY infinite respawn, though it may seem to be.

Episode 2:
None. No, not even on the road while returning to Barry.

Episode 3:
The enemies you run into just before reaching the radio station may or may not be infinite, but they're certainly too many to deal with using just flashbang grenades! However, if you run straight from the bridge to the safe haven at the radio station (so that your objective changes to "Talk to Pat Maine") you can return to this area and there will be no enemies! Beware that the area just BEFORE the bridge can still spawn enemies, though.

You can also employ this tactic later in the episode, after riding the cable car (second cable car in the game) and of course crashing. This is where you see your first confirmed infinite respawn area. But run from the red box here to the next safe haven, then fight the Taken on the bridge. After this, you can return to this area and there will be zero enemies.

There are no other infinite respawns in this episode.

Episode 4:
After the crash with Barry, there is an infinite respawn area immediately after you get the flashlight. It will only last until you reach the second Safe Haven (the one that doesn’t require a generator), then no enemies will spawn there again. From this point to the house (where you have to kill Danny), you won’t have enough ammo to kill all the enemies that spawn, whether it’s technically an infinite respawn area or not.

After leaving the house, enemies will be infinite on foot but nonexistent while driving until you reach the field with hay bales in front of the farm. Further, once you’ve killed the limited enemies that spawn in the field, the entire region will be enemy-less, whether driving or on foot! The larger area before reaching the field will remain this way indefinitely. However, the field and the road in front of it will become infinite respawn once you enter the gate leading to the backhoe loader and will stay that way.

The rest of the episode has no infinite respawns.

Episode 5:
Not including the boss fight at the helicopter pad, there are no infinite respawns here.

Episode 6:
The first infinite respawns are right before and right after the motel. You can make this entire region enemy-free by beginning to cross the bridge until you’ve fought the first batch of (3) poltergeists, then returning. The Safe Haven you used last will go out, and the music will change. (Side note: You can actually return all the way back to where you first began the episode now, minus the scene at your apartment, of course. Where you couldn't just jump over the vehicles clogging the tunnel earlier, you can jump over them now.)

After fighting the poltergeists on the bridge, enemies will respawn in the vast area between here and the next bridge. There’s no way to get them to stop. And sometime while you’re in the tunnel (Unsure: either when you’re ambushed the first time or when you reach the next checkpoint), a truck will spawn on the bridge blocking your way back. The latter part of the junkyard becomes infinite respawn once you power the generator (Need confirmation that it stays that way). After fighting the birds on the bridge, and making your way through the shack, there’s a large two-part section (divided by a Safe Haven) which is infinite respawn and cannot be changed.

Lastly, the area just before you use the elevator will have infinite respawns once you power the generator. And the area just before the final fight will respawn enemies until the poltergeists are killed.

Here's to hoping any missing thermoses, manuscripts, can pyramids, and hidden chests will be in non-infinite respawn areas!
