Should this be Max Payne 3?
Is it just me, or is this game more like the REAL max payne 3? Obviously not in terms of story, but in terms of atmosphere, gameplay and all round awesomeness.
It hit me time and time again how obvious it was that these were the true devs of max payne, not r*.
I feel this should be made honorary max payne 3, instead of that abortion that came out last year. It could be max facing his demons at last, maybe? He goes to the cabin with mona (who does live in one of the endings in max payne 2) to try and get his head straight after everything that has happened. He happens upon the loony old lady who gives him the key to a creepy cabin on a lake (that isn't really there). All else happens as it does in the game. Just change the names of some of the main characters to fit max payne, and change the reason they are there slightly, and there you have it, a TRUE sequel to max payne 2.
I think a petition should be made somewhere about this, but maybe that's just my sleep deprived brain going a bit loopy at 2:30am this tuesday morning.

Personally I think Max Payne 3 is a great game. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't remedy making it but rockstar did a goodjob with it I think. Although they do like their cutscenes in Max Payne 3.

I think MP 3 is a great game, but Remedy have that little something, I can't really put my finger on it, that really make their games immersive and memorable. The atmosphere is just awesome!

Remedy has Sam Lake, he is a fantastic writer. Just see the way max talks in the first and second game to see the greatness.

It wasn't just that though, it was almost everything about alan wake that brings up the same feeling of immersion and interest in the world, characters, story and gameplay that was in max 1 and 2 but totally missing from 3.
I think the review I read for max 3 was bang on target when it said it was a mediocre/ok 3rd person shooter with too many uninteresting cutscenes and characters you cared nothing for.
And alan wake just, for me, brought out the same feeling, like I was playing the same kind of game, as I got from the original max payne games. It even LOOKS like max payne 2 in a way, how things move, how they work, the character animation, the weapon characteristics.
This just could (and should) have been the sequel max payne deserved, rather than the half hearted attempt that came from R*, who did it just because they knew they could sell the brand rather than sell an excellent videogame that people would be playing and loving for years to come
