Unofficial supported Resolution 800x600,640x480 for LowRider
Yes its possible to change the resolution to 800x600 or 640x480. Since patch 1.06 i guess.
Not ingame
Do so by WinXP32 by open folder:
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\[profil]\Eigene Dateien\Remedy\AlanWake\resolution.xml

change manually the resolution. See if it improves performance.

it took me 3 site researches to discover this helpful information.

Since the resolution is that tiny, the ingame message window text on ingame objects like posters or signs, displays in an single column of letters, but the rest is working like as expected.

Attention 640x480 BUG: Drive back to Barry wont be possible due to the driving tips will be displayed in the ingame message window which will be a single coloum. You have to switch, to at least 800x600 to be able to drive a vehicle.

Yeah my game crashed at the driving part then i remembered that as soon as you reach the car you get the instructions on how to drive the game probably does not reduce the text and font size for the boxes ,what i did was simply revert to normal resolution till the next check point and then exit ad restart with the low resolution again , i did this long ago so im not sure wether the problem is still there , but as far as i know there have been no new patches recently released so this might still be the only workaround.
