¿How can you get dissapointed with Alan Wake? (I'm serious haha) just keep playing (Y)

Did the game get better, or did you just get better at it? :P

The Writer was phenomenal. Still, when I play the game over again, I always have to start with Episode 1 because I really like the story too. And I literally can't get enough of the combat and atmosphere, so I need the whole dose! In fact, I usually play American Nightmare again afterwards as well.

That's your experience of it and you're more than welcome to it. I've heard others say similar things, including big fans of the game.

Hmm.. hope I'm not being misunderstood. I'm not saying the game was bad by any means. All I'm saying is that the game didn't fully pull me in until after the first few episodes.

I gotcha. Lots of people feel that way, didn't like the beginning all that much. And I can see why the episode after Barry arrives sparked your interest, because things got real (real fast!) at that point, what with Rusty being attacked and all. I remember feeling more alone and desperate in that episode than in the first, or maybe I was just feeling like I really had to get to my destination (first because I had to meet the kidnapper and then because I had to get back to Barry). In the first episode, there wasn't that sense of urgency, maybe because Alan had been sitting in that car for who knows how long anyway?

Anyway, just my thoughts on it. Good call on The Writer though. Definitely my favorite DLC.

I know it's silly, but it's a little hard for me to get into games from the male perspective. I'm the same with books. My husband and I love the same genres but both prefer books who's perspective is our own sex.

Based on this observation, I have to wonder if this game would have enticed me more if it was a female protagonist. So for me, after Barry arrived, it was really the dialog and connection that caught my attention. You can't watch Barry wearing Christmas lights and saying funny stuff and not be entertained. Honestly, he was my favorite part of the game!

Eh, not sure if this makes me sound immature. Just making my own observation. I wonder if any other girl gamers agree.

Dunno about the other girls...but Barry is definitely the star of the game (Also the old gods)

Haha, well Barry was entertaining for most of us, male or female. And I've been saying since I finished the game first time around I would love it if Alice was the playable protagonist in the sequel (if there is one).
