To think I only finally played this tonight because a fellow Steam member said all you need to do is connect to a game and idle and you get cards. Well I got cards alright but I did it while actually playing this game. Wow is it scary, makes you think, looks decent graphically and playing this on easy only makes me wonder how hard it would be on the harder difficulties. It definitely will have replay value for me because of this. So yeah so glad I took a look at this game tonight .. just amazing ..

One knock on it though. For getting out of the way of things, strafing or whatever they call it in this game I don't like the shift + A or W or S or D. I wish they could have put in controls like WildStar has where a double press of one key twice rolls you and to make it more difficult like WildStar did they could have an energy meter so you can't just keep rolling. This game would be even more enjoyable if the avoidance controls were better.

Anyway I never expected this game to be this much fun when it just seemed like it a game that was a book and I actually complained at one point yelling at the tv "Is this a game or a book?" Eh I think not knowing half the time makes this even more interesting.

Nice to hear that you got into a game by accident!

Like most Console Ports these days, playing with an X360 Controller works best, I think.
That said, the Addon American Nightmare massively improved the controls.

P.s.: I don't really get what you mean by "cards"? Those Steam Trading Card thingies? What's up with them anyway? Do you play a kind of metagame with your games, only farming cards, collecting and trading, instead of playing the actual games? Seems crazy to me, but fun comes in many forms! :)

Yeah the Steam Trading Cards. The person I spoke to gets most of his games by just selling Steam Trading Cards and items he can get in free games and then sell on marketplace. Hey more power to him and smart if he never spends a cent of real cash and ends up with a huge gaming library he likes.

Eh as for what I do for the cards and items I get well I generally list them at the highest price they ever were at and pray someone buys them. I buy my games cheap anyway so I don't mind waiting on the sale of my Steam Trading Cards or TF2 items on the marketplace til I get what I want for them and that is the highest price they were ever at. However in the future I definitely have to go back and look over the items I have and see if I should adjust any a little just so they are more likely to sell and still fetch me a high price.

As for the controls I will definitely look at playing Alan Wake with an Xbox 360 controller in the future but I still can't get used to playing games on pc with a controller. :S

Some games actually play way better with a controller (on PC), such as soccer games, fighting games and racing games.

Yeah Alan Wake was made more for controller use as it was orginaly designed as a 360 games. I have both it on Steam and the Limited Collectors Edition on the Xbox 360 wich has the game box look like a book.
