Did the controller patch ever get released?
The demo of this game still doesn't read my Cyborg Rumble Pad rpoperly, no matter how i configure the pad, the game or the Xbox 360ce emulator. A pity because the game looked fun, but not worth buying with busted controls...

I came here because my microsoft controller isn't even working. It does vibrate though.

I couldn't know because since i got the game, my 360 controller has worked just fine. However, with your controller, have you tried keyboard emulators like xpadder? They can bind your pads keys to regular keyboard keys, so even if you play REALLY old games, you can always emulate the keyboard, and for example bind the d-pad to WASD keys, the space-bar (almost always jump) for the A button, or whatever you like. I have successfully played very old DOS games using my gamepad and xpadder, and it works like a breeze. any game will work because they only get keyboard strokes, but xpadder emulates them from your gamepad for you. try it.

Besides, it is a great game, so you can even try it without a gamepad.

You kind of have a unique game controller. Which is nice when it works but because it's unique it doesn't work for this. I have a madcatz 360 controller which is nothing fancy and it has worked from day one.

And yet my Cyborg RUmble Pad works perfectly with every other game I've ever bought.

Grey I am having the same issue myself. Xbox 360 Afterglow Wired Controller does not work and only vibrates at start. Other than that the controls are un-responsive. With all my games with controller support the controller works just fine. JUST NOT THIS GAME. I'm kinda annoyed at this.

Luckily I never bought it. This is why I don't do Steam purchases without demos

Wired and wireless 360 controllers work flawlessly for me.

Not sure this will fix everyone's or anyone's problem. I had a game that would only work with strict "xbox 360 controllers" and not even microsoft certified xbox 360 controllers (which I had). There was a search/replace you had to do in the registry to trick the system into thinking your controller was an actual xbox controller.

Here's an example of the issue

My Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710 wasn't working with this either, despite working flawlessly in Xinput mode with many other games (and even having used the controller to launch Vessel in big picture mode!).

Perusing the ReadMe.txt file in the game's directory gave a pointer to my particular problem: there's a bug such that the game chooses a controller randomly if more than one is available, and the one it chooses may not be the one you've set as the default controller.

In my case, my Razer Orbweaver also comes up as an HID-compliant game controller device, visible in my Devices and Printers window. I disabled that device (in Windows 7, right click controller icon, Properties, Hardware tab, select "HID-compliant game controller," Properties button, Change settings, Driver tab, Disable button), relaunched the game, and my Logitech controller started working.
