Pretty good game, but could have been so much better
I'm a big fan of railroad strategy games. I've played hundreds of multiplayer hotseat games of Avalon Hill's 1830 on the PC.

I was hoping for a similar experience with Ticket to Ride. My first disappointment was the absence of hotseat play, which would have been very easy to add.

Although I prefer 1830 (far more interesting strategies available), Ticket to Ride is fun. However, the AI players are not at all challenging, I've lost one game of the first five I played, while I was still learning the rules. So I doubt the game will provide much play value for me.

If the DLC was priced reasonably I would buy that to increase the play value, but the prices of the DLC are far to high - $5 for a new map and tweaked rules.

I'm actually okay without hotseat play on this game (probably befcause I own the Europe version of the board game) and I think that the DLC isn't terribly out of it's price range (and will probably see a sale on Steam at some point in the future). My biggest complaints about the game are based on functionality of the game itself. My chief complaint is that there does not seem to be a way to disable the timeout that will replace you with a robot in network play. Even if it were a standard part of the game it should be up to the other players to determine if they are going to wait on the other player to move or to boot from the table. The current mechanic is not a pleasant option, especially considering how weak the AI can be.

At least it's online. I've yet to see anything from Rio Grande or Fantasy Flight.

5$ is to much for a new map and rule set. Try 15$ for 1912 IRL and all you get is a new deck of cards and a 3 page rule book. 40$ for a new map like Europe or Asia(80$ for Asia because there are 2 of them). 5$ is a great price as it adds a lot to the game.
