Things to make Ticket to Ride better?! Wishes and Must Have´s ;-) For DoW and Developers!
Hope Days of Wonder and developers read this thread. Community too ;-). Post your ideas! Thank you for your interest in TTR and this thread!

...updated...
What do you think about this ideas? Post your comments!

I like all the board maps. Hope all the stuff is available soon for digital game too! Very nice for me: A leader board for each offline map!

NEW: Wish-Want-list - Consolidation list of the community:

- All the board maps for PC too plus extension (custom maps sounds good too)
- Leaderboard for each offline map
- More stats like as of Day of wonder website
- Ability to kick/ban another player (jerk stop ;-])
- Better AI for offline games (AI sometimes very silly-no ending strategy)
- Additional ability to click on the tickets to show them all
- More visibility when its your turn (like Memoir 44)
- Home Network mode

Custom rules (certainly unranked):
- Switch for using double route by 2/3 players
- Switch for using train station for all the maps

Bug fixing:
- online game: if game text is too long, letters of player name are overwritten
- if you came from online mode (watching a live game as audience) and then you go back to offline mode sometimes it doesn´t work anymore (click offline game - nothing appears) - some grafic is missing - update: same as; after watching a live game and then going into the next online game, after first action, then no more action is possible => you have to end TTR and restart game!!!
- if you watch an online game, there is no chance to watch ending score - game ends
- delete ignored players is only possible with TTR version you´ve ignored (steam or online game from days of wonder).

My wishlist has, and always will be thus:

- All the Maps

- Hotseat

- The ability to kick opponents from games/ban opponents from re-joining after you've kicked them.

I'd really like to see India as a DLC since i'm considering buying the board game expansion and it would be nice to get a view on how it plays.

Currently What I'd like to see as DLC is
- Warehouses and Depots expansion as an option on all games. (From Europa 1912)
-Ticket to ride Dice as an option.
-The rest of the maps.

As additional options/patches.
-the ability to turn off the animations, especially the end of game, I just want the Score, not a slide show of what routs they had.
-and the opposite of that when going in an looking at the routes they had it should be as interactive as the game, click on the route and it shows the cities. and the ability to scroll the routes because if they have more the 5 or 6 the rest are off the screen.

Other then that I'm loving the game.

The 'turn off animations' exists, press the 'Fast Forward' button on the side, it takes you straight to the final score.
As for scrolling the routes, im not sure what you mean, it exists also...

The really need to make it more obvious when its Your Turn, something similar to what they did on Memoir '44 and perhaps even a visual marker that is displayed for the entirity of each players turn on their screen only.

I hope they update this game.

I only play the solo version - I don't have the patience for slow opponents, nor tolerance for precocious kids who do play quickly.

The AI is atrocious. I played a Big City game where my "opponent" scored -11 points. The AI has one strategy - to join a lot of long routes. It has no end-game concept, and the tickets it accepts seem random. This limits replayability.

More stats would be nice - number of games played, average score, wins, losses (though this goes hand-in-hand with a real AI).

A no-animations option would be nice. I greatly appreciate the no-sound option. The double train-whistle sound was already ticking me off by the end of my second game.

The slide-up black bar at the bottom of the playing board is OK with the USA board, but a major annoyance with Europe.

I would like an option to click through tickets I haven't yet satisfied, rather than having to cycle through the entire group of tickets.

But, mostly, a half-decent AI.

lol... you dont like ppl who play too fast or too slow.

tbh... dont play solo... thast not what this game is about.
Solecismic Feb 25, 2013 @ 12:46pm
I know. Online gaming isn't really suited for me. At least for board games. With the kids, it's more having to deal with the tantrums when they lose, or (as probably would be the case if I played TTR online) the ramp-up as I'd be learning to deal with blocking effectively (which is something my fiancee and I agree not to do). I imagine this polite little world which isn't all that realistic. Hence, my understanding that to enjoy a game, it must have a good AI.

One other feature I'd like - the Hall of Fame should be split by board played. Mega and Big Cities scores are much higher. Europe scores are much lower.

My top two are:

An option to permit the use of both sides of double routes in 2/3 player games.

Custom maps (maybe through Steam Workshop to allow online play). There's only so many times I can play the same few maps.

- Yes, all the maps is a MUST have ;-)
- What does Hotseat exactly mean? Limited time for your choice? (maybe time can be set?) And what happend then? Or what?
- Ok. Not in a game, but you can put a "jester" on the ignore list later, you know!

Hotseat, as in, offline multiplayer human vs human. One person takes their turn, then the next, akin to playing on an actual board. While yes, I do have multiple board versions, it'd still be a nice feature to have (and the iOS version already has it)

You can, and i have resorted to this, but I recently had a game where a 'jester' (i like to think 'jerk') kept disconnecting, reconnecting and badmouthing myself and the other (very nice) person in my game. there was no way to prevent him from doing this, and as such, he proceeded to 'stall' the two of us, forcing us to stick around for half an hour or quit, which after fifteen minutes of the two of us waiting patiently for him to stop, we both left; losing karma and giving a victory to the 'jester'.
I'd at least like the option to prevent 'jesters' from rejoining a game while you're in game as opposed to having to lose then add to ignore list. While bans may be used the same way, people like this ruin the otherwise amazing community that TTR has.

House rules. Sounds interesting, but definitely would have to be unranked games. I'd love to see some house rules and some custom boards! (Emerald City, I'm looking at you)

I would really enjoy a feature like pass-n-play. DAC | cazaron explained it as human vs. human multiplayer. Laptops/netbooks are just as easy to pass around as tablets.

It's fairly obvious: the sound plays a Train horn blaring, as well as your name highlighted. You can't really miss it.

Oh man, the last suggestion would be amazing, however, that's QUITE hard to implement.
As for the first suggestion, that would be fine in local offline matches, but I think it defeats the purpose of 2/3 player. It'll make online matches 100x easier, and one enjoyable part of the game (in my opinion, also crucial) is planning ahead: think of 3 ways to get to the destination and complete the tickets.

As for hotseat, it's like playing AI, except the AI are humans. Like how DAC | cazaron said.

I commented on this on another discussion post, but here's the rundown:

Under the Fair play in Online Play section of the DoW Terms and Conditions, it says:

By joining any of Days of Wonder's Online games, you agree to exercise constant fair play vis a vis your fellow players. Any player found voluntarily quitting an online game before its normal completion, using stalling tactics to induce others to forfeit, or using foul or obscene language, will face, at Days of Wonder's sole discretion: the freezing of their online account, resetting of their ranking and/or permanent removal of player privileges.

The whole Terms and Conditions are here: http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/about/terms/

The 'jester's won't know what hit them :)
