Starpoint G 1 an 2 Question
Okay, so I see there's still a lot of negative vibes floating around this game. I see also that there's a new version out, in alpha. So, what's the verdict? Buy that one and see how this is, or what until metacritic shre... I mean, gives it a rating? Any feedback from someone who owns and has played the game in its current state?

Im sort of curious too. Im not interested in playing an unfinished game, but it comes with the first. I don't know if I should grab it for the first now, safe a few bucks and just get the first, or wait on it.

As for metecritic, Im sure you have bee told a bunch of times already, but you really shouldn't use it. For one thing, cirtain types of games will just not score well because they are too niche. Even if its not the case for the game your intrested in, you also have to consider personal taste. Metecritic doesn't do that. Metacritic is not about you. Metacritic is all about the masses. Your better off finding a specific reviewer (I don't mean a review site, as they usually have several reviewers, each one having different tastes in games) who seems to be into the same stuff you are into. After much searching, I realized that my tastes are just too wonky to find a review I can trust, or at least not one I can trust on more than one type of game. I end up skimming a few reviews, then I just watch gameplay videos, and try to come best conslusion I can. I often end up with games I don't care for, but there have been too many games that I'm tottaly crazy about, but have gotten bad metacritic scores, so Im willing to take my chances. On the other had, you might just have tastes that confrom to the masses that Metacritic is all about. There is absolutly nothing wrong with that. In fact, it can only make things easier for you. You should make sure you know that about yourself though. Way too many people let Metacritic make all their decisions for them, when at most, it should be used to help you make them.

Back to my decision now. Videos I have seen of Starpoint 1 have been too ambigous for me. They show me that I'm either going to get totally addicted to it, or im going to love it for several hours, then loose intrest. From what I have seen of the second game, Im pretty sure that Im going to become addicted to it. Its looking like its exaclty what I want in this kind of game. The first one is where I cant seem to make up my mind. I don't know if its worth spending the exta money right now. I could better use that on things im more sure about. I can take the chance when I have more disposable income.

I'll take the lack of response as a large neon sign which reads, "Stay away!"

PC gamers love to pisss and moan about things. If there is no one here dooing that, it doesn't mean the game is bad. It just means no one realizes it exists.

As a PC gamer, I could take offense at that, but I realize that you are making do with your proprietary only low-level gaming rig with streamlined but considerably subpar operating system. And my post was asking for feedback, good or bad. If there is no response, it means those who play it aren't concerned one way or the other about the forums. Apathy is not the same thing as ignorance. And that's one to grow on.

EDIT: I really need to get off the Steam forums. Its nothing but negativity, and it really wears of on me.

Im pretty stoked about the Steam OS. I gave up console gaming, so im quite happy about the massive stability, and performance boost its going to bring.

the usual solution to error 80 is restarting your comp, try that before the more advanced stuff

I can say nothing about this game, as I have not played it, but I am currently playing SG2 and it is superb even in alpha. Just check out the forums and you'll see nothing but praise there from everyone else as well.

Second that. SPG2 is an astonishingly better game. I found original game rather amusing, but when you check the level of quality, graphics and people's reactions to sequel - it is hard to believe what a huge leap forward was made here
