Fix for cursor problem?

I am running this game on windows 8 and so far I have tried putting the game into xp sp3 mode but that does not seem to get the game to work propperly. The cursor needs to be above and to the left of the button to click. Another problem I ran into is that part of the UI at the bottom of the screen disapears. Any help fixing these problems is much appreciated.
