Tunnels & Rivers on Altis ?
Is there no Rivers and roadtunnels on this massive island ? Will there be in the finished version of the map?

No.

As for road tunnels, if you look at the map you will see there is no need for a tunnel system on the island, there is plenty of level ground for roads and no need to go tunneling through hills.

Rivers, well it's been stated by the developers that there were going to be no rivers on Altis, I believe it was because of a number of reasons like, the design of the island didnt require rivers, to get rivers working correctly would have also took a lot of developer resources which has been better spent elsewhere.

There maybe maps made in the future by the community with rivers, tunnels and such but Altis will be released as it is now.

There is never a need for anything with that attitude I mean. A river and tunnels would make good combat scenarios and thats the truth.

And as you wrote it´s true that the community will make maps with rivers, but `m not sure its possible with tunnels since it has never been put into bohemia games before in a good way. It´s probably an engine limitation. Altis does not require big landmasses that has similar looks in lots of areas either. It would be better spent resources in making some tunnels and rivers for more varied scenarios. Anyhow its a personal taste if you want good diversity or not, or if people think it is or not... :)

How do you mean that it would take time to get rivers working ? Only Idea I can think of is the waves of the waters surrounding the island, but that could have been solved by making to different water entities with different values, so you could use the same waters that you have in the lakes.

True, the community will make the maps the devs don´t...like allways so in that case it´s really not needed, but it´s to bad they don´t see the use of it.

I downloaded two workshop but I can not use

the game tell me
"you cannot play / edit this mission. it is dependent on downlaoadable happy deleted.a3_map_altis That has-beens"

where to find the file to download the map altis ???

The island is based off of Lemnos. I dont think that island had roadway tunnels. And also, again. The whole island is pretty much flat. Dont forget, once the game launches. There will be a ♥♥♥♥ load of terrains coming out.

Choose game library, rightclick on " arma 3" check the tabs, and use "Devs version". Then it will download Altis map. Its available in editor. Also you can subscribe to missions in steam workshop. ( perhaps Altis has been released in normal game version now..I dont know)

iGame: true about new terrain..but it would be awesome to see it on this island from scratch.. also its just based on Lemnos, its not 100% Lemnos :)

Stratis in real life is nammed Agios Efestratios. And there isin't a huge airbase.

Also, Kavala is the name of the nearest regin of greece to the west of Lemnos.

Well tunnels could make em "easy"? don't know that much about Arma's coding but if add a item/object tunnel that you can drag as of a tunnel from one side of 0y - 100y and 0x/z - 100x/z units (ajust size your self) by how large the tunnel will be, it needs a perfect square wall to place it and it needs it on the other side as well (since of adding the structer for the entrence or have it adapt to the terrian in a area) also adding every 100m a frame to hold the tunnel up (playes off animation when destroyed like the houses when destroyed so you can totaly block off the exit and entrence so the enemy is trapped after time the structer inbetween two damaged onces will collapse 1 to respawn enemy 2 because of mass pressure)

The engine would not support the destruction of certain static objects. (ie: terrain and the big doors at the Stratis Air Base.)

Well its not a static object and not a part of the terrain its more of a big house that can be destroyed.

Well its not a static object and not a part of the terrain its more of a big house that can be destroyed.

Yeah the ground cant be destroyed but what I mean is that the object acts like a building and can trespass through the ground or cut out a void were its placed so you can walk inside the new room and you are just walking on object insted of the ground hope they are able to make it like that cutting ground and replace it with objects.
