Is this higher settings better stuff legit or bs?
People say putting settings low is going to make game use more CPU. But I have only ever been able to confirm that this happens if you put shadows on low/med, which does not matter to me anyway since I just disable them.

Are there any other settings this happens for?

I know that when CPU makes bottleneck GPU is underused, but that does not mean enabling AA and other GPU intensives will give you better performance, just means you can up your graphics with little frame loss. From my testing game seems way more responsive if you keep that stuff off, even if GPU is underused. This also keeps GPU reserve for intense parts like smoke spam, explosions and firefights.

I know that GPU may use less power when not used much, but you can disable that in nvidia controlpanel so I dont see a problem.

I want frames so I keep everything low and disabled.

The PiP function (Picture in Picture) is also bad for the FPS.

PIP is cancer, I have it disabled of course.

I did not mention shadows because they have impact on fps, I mentioned them because they are the only setting I know will switch to CPU instead of GPU when put below high.

I made this thread asking if anyone knew if there are other settings that do this, since some people on the forums are saying "Putting settings up will make game use GPU and give better fps".

Aside from the shadows, I just want to confirm that this is BS, and that I am infact getting the best performance keeping everything low and disabled. If it turns out not to be, I want to know what settings do this so I can boost my performance.

keep raising the settings until you actually do lose fps. the lower the settings(certain ones not sure which) takes the load off the gpu and puts it on the cpu which is already a limit

is there anyone at all out there who is certain which? I have never gotten confirmation for anything but shadows, and if you put shadows on disabled anyway it removes the load for both cpu and gpu.

The way I see it, raising settings giving less CPU usage, is with the exception of shadows just a rumor gotten completely out of control.

just raise your settings. your not going to see an fps drop unless your hardware is weak/cant handle high settings, i just leave mine on ultra with a few things turned down a little and go. i dont get any fps difference between my settings and low other than the game looking like crap. the tip ive learned from arma, raise your settings until your start losing fps, then lower them just a tad and leave it.

in my own experience I can gain at least 5-10 fps by keeping my settings low as possible. Some settings that are GPU only will not affect my fps, but the game will feel a lot more responsive without them on. I play missions like patrol ops that rape the CPU so I need every bit of performance I can get.
