ArmA 3...sucks?
Look, the title might be a little bit too direct, but is it just me or does ArmA 3 just suck?

I understand that it's supposed to be a "simulator" or whatever you want to call it, but honestly, people who act like wannabe soldiers with no life treat it like it's real life or something. It's a game, thus it's meant to be fun, and I've put a lot of hours into it, yet I don't find it very fun, or at least what $60 could provide as "fun". I've had a couple cool moments, most of them in the first couple hours of gameplay, but, I just don't see what is so fun about it.

People put way more hours than I did into it, playing modes that quickly got boring, like Wasteland or Invade and Annex, yet it just makes me wonder why Bohemia Interactive would release the game so early. There's no campaign in it, and it's badly optimized, and sometimes it doens't feel like there's much to do other than play missions which aren't that incredible to say the least, either.

You might say I'm trolling or whatever because you can't think of any other way to insult me, but please, is there any real way to have fun in ArmA 3? I mean, people payed money for it, you know. So I should be getting my money's worth.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARMA_3 wikipedia defines this game as a military simulation and it is, You bought a game that is supposed to mimic the army all the armas before that do exactly the same thing.
Its like buying F1 2013 and expecting green shells to come out of the car to make it "fun"
If you dont like the game its your fault you did not search enough info about it.

each to his own, at least you have dignity instead of ranting and rageposting.

Arma is NOT for everyone; but at least you gave it a chance. Really what you need to do is find a dedicated group/squad; public servers are vary rarely fun. We play semi-organized co-op; in that we have a quick brief, get everyone squared away, then we're off. All you do is listen to your team/squad leaders.

Even tho Arma is in NO way as in-depth as say a flight sim; it still takes time and patience to get it down.

IDK, it just seems this game still has a LOT more content/options then 90% of other games, which is good IMO

I've had a lot of fun doing the firing drills. It's all target stuff, but still it's good fun.

And the codemasters f1 series is to racing sims as streetfighter is to actual street fighting. Not a great example.

rFactor 1 or 2 would have been a better example

I think MAD is right (sorry for the acronym, but that's what you get with such a long screenname :P ); getting the most enjoyment out of the ARMA series needs a good group and custom missions. This was what convinced me to start looking into organised ARMA gameplay - it's from a group called Shack Tactical with nearly 100 players working together (OPFOR is all AI).

Lost infantry platoon in enemy territory, mechanised unit moves in to rescue them with armour support and fixed-wing close air support. Video description's got additional info and links to other viewpoints of the mission:

It sucks. lol. I have thought it sucked for a long time now. I always enjoyed CTI single player and online. It just doesn't have the same feel and sandbox CTI style of Arma 2. As I said before if I could get a refund I would just because I will never play Arma 3. It actually makes me sad, I was really looking forward to 3 because I enjoyed 2 alot with my friends. The game could possbily get better given time, but I think the Arma 3 team is being lazy with the steam workshop and hoping the fanbase make amazing maps and game modes. Sadly, this will never happen... I spent a hour on steamwork shop and found maybe 2 items I thought were just okay. lol... meh its to bad, and I really hate the fact it shoulda been better but it wasn't / isn't.

Peoples definition of Fun are relative. I have fun in ARMA so do a lot of people. But, then there are people like you who do not find it fun but stressful or to realistic (which is absolutely fine) I guess what I am trying to say everyone has there own definition of fun. this may just not be your game.. or not yet your game. after being a heavy call of duty and medal of honor fan. I felt it was to unrealistic and always felt like a God.. even on the highest difficulty it wasn't challanging. In Arma,ARMA 2, ARMA 3. I feel like a real soldier without having to be a real soldier. Everything is realistic. Somethings more-so than others. (Now, I wont go as far to say ARMA 3 is realistic as the weapons, and vehicles just feel blah) But. it may take you awhile to appreciate a game like this. I suggest to stop playing multiplayer and just play with the editor. that is what got me to love this game. Making battles "my way" putting a thousand tanks at 1000ft in the air then having them shoot at each other while falling is my kind of fun in this game. Not realistic. But. pure fun :D

It's got a lot of issues but I think you just need to find the right modes/missions/servers for you to make it fun and for some people they may not exist yet or ever. At a minimum the game needs more content and optimization to really help more people enjoy it though.

No Fun at all for me, since ArmA i hate it more and more. the future setting, the handling, sound and grafics, nothing seems to fit together, it feels so cheesy... the good thing is, i still have OFP installed, with ECP this is just 10x the fun.
Kystick Sep 24, 2013 @ 10:55pm
listen i don't know. I love building missions from the ground up and seeing what happens,my little brother on the other hand loves the online part, as a vet a stand beside the game for what it is,ugly, unpredictable, and at times boring as hell, but on that note thats how the Army was. in todays market all i see is COD and if i could carry all that ♥♥♥♥ 300 rounds for an MP7......nevermind..... i never got a care package let's say that. I like it and hate it same as everything else out their.
